Course Description
Build production-grade full-stack apps faster than ever by combining the power of Cursor AI with the best modern web tools: Next.js 15, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Shadcn UI, Drizzle ORM, Clerk, and Neon PostgreSQL.
In this project-based course you'll build FlashyCardy, a sleek flashcards app where users can sign up, create decks and cards, and upgrade to a Pro plan with Stripe and Clerk billing. You'll implement full authentication, role-based access, and a SaaS-style subscription system, all while letting Cursor AI do 100% of the coding. AKA Vibe Coding!
That's right: the entire app is built by prompting Cursor. No manual coding required. You'll see how to guide Cursor from a blank repo to a deployed, production-ready app using Agent Mode, structured prompting, and Cursor Rules to steer the AI and get high-quality, secure, and reliable code output.
You'll also use MCP (Model Context Protocol) to seamlessly connect to your Neon PostgreSQL database and generate seed data, schemas, and queries via Drizzle ORM, all through AI.
Learn how to:
Build a full-stack SaaS app from scratch using only Cursor prompts
Use Agent Mode and Cursor Rules to drive consistent, secure, and accurate development
Connect to Neon and populate relational data via MCP + Drizzle
Implement auth, access control, and Stripe billing with Clerk
Build beautiful, accessible UIs using Shadcn UI + Tailwind CSS
Deploy with Vercel using production-ready environment configs
By the end you'll have a fully functional app, "FlashyCardy", and the practical workflow to build real apps with AI. This isn't just about watching code get generated; it's about learning how to think, prompt, and steer AI like a pro developer.
If you're ready to stop hand-typing boilerplate and start building with AI the smart way, this is the course for you.

The session provided a clear and comprehensive explanation, supported by practical examples and a hands-on demonstration, making the concepts easy to understand and apply.

Good course overall, although it's a bit outdated. Cursor has since added built-in rule creation, which is a nice improvement. One more thing: sometimes you explain what you're doing, but not why you're doing it that way. I'd like a bit more context on the reasoning behind your approach, not just the steps themselves.

It was a good course. I had to actually use my Claude Code subscription and install the Claude extension. But he did a good very good job at explaining how to get around cursor. It does not go over any of the new Cursor 3.0 Agent window, but that's ok. I am an heavy Claude code user and also Visual Studio Code user for all of my projects, so I was able to get a good handle on the interface. Cursor is definitely impressive and I am going to add it my vast list of AI development tools to use. Great job big guy ..

I haven't even started this course and I'm already so pleased, because unlike other AI courses I've taken here, this one provides not just videolessons, but resources too - prompts, rules, etc. Excellent! Thank you very much! Edit: I'm halfway through and already learned so much! I'm much more confident in creating my own skills and rules now!

The instructions and explanations are clear and comprehensive, covering every detail to ensure you won’t be left wondering about unexpected occurrences. As a bonus, the lesson goes beyond just the cursor, introducing you to other services like Clerk, Neon, OpenAI, Vercel, and more. Thank you!

This course was very useful for getting into Vibe coding. Personally, I used the /create-rule command, which is included by default in cursor because in 2026.04 the create-command was already deprecated. Create-rule generates smaller rule files, but it was surprisingly accurate and useful during prompting. And used Composer 2 fast (thinking) LLM (it's a bit more expensive but fast and more powerful than Sonnet 4). This 2 combo worked really well with all of your lectures. In fact, it only caused less iteration and 0 error during coding. But altogether, the content of the course was well written and helped to understand what vibe coding is. Thanks!

Looks perfect to see hands-on work directly, showing how to set up cursor and interact, prompting while explaining. Nice work

Most issues I find myself having, whether he has it or not he will cover. I would like for him to a more general scenario, sometimes he will debug or reference names in his project that I might not have, so be prepared to do some problem-solving/figuring out on your own. Overall very good course, great pace, and in depth explanations.

Excellent course! Everything was explained very well, and I found the example project very appealing. The course probably isn't suitable for absolute beginners who have never programmed anything before, but that's more due to Cursor AI, which might not be the best program for absolute beginners. For everyone else (even with very little experience): 100% recommended!

I’m really glad I chose this course by Tom Phillips. It’s very complete and practical, and it allowed me to successfully launch a real project: a job application tracker called Tracklight: https://tracklight.app. What makes this course great is that it helps you build a full app on a strong foundation, while also introducing you to technologies and frameworks you may not be familiar with. These tools significantly increase your development speed and confidence when building modern applications. Some things may have changed slightly by the time you follow along in Cursor, but Tom clearly warns about this upfront. AI tools evolve very quickly, and that’s just part of working in this space. In my case, I made extensive use of Cursor’s visual editor, which was especially helpful given my design background, which wasn't available when the course was launched. The only part I struggled with, was moving Clerk into production toward the end of the course, some steps are missing, and since the rest of the course is very thorough, I found myself a bit lost at first. However, with some additional research, I was able to resolve it. If you get stuck with Clerk production setup as well, make sure to: 1. Enable billing in Clerk (it’s disabled by default in development mode). 2. Update your Clerk API keys in Vercel to the new Clerk's production keys. Overall, this is an excellent course that delivers real value and helped me ship a real product. I highly recommend it. Thanks Tom!
