Gatsby JS v5 & Headless WordPress (Gatsby & WordPress 2023) (Udemy.com)

The information is okay, but it comes at you so fast. I'm constantly pausing, rewinding, pausing, rewinding, etc. Not much is actually explained; you just do it. I want to learn more about what we are doing and why. I don't really understand what we are importing from the @webdeveducation module. I wish some time would have been spent on it. I feel like I learned some, but it definitely wasn't the in-depth learning I had hoped for.

This course is even better than the earlier Headless WordPress with NextJs course, which was very good. Tons of useful applications to real life scenarios. The effort to come up with re-usable, abstract solutions that aren't tightly bound to a specific WordPress design or use case is particularly noteworthy. Highly recommended!

Great course, exactly what I needed, I want to use the power of WordPress but not online, just as a a backend. I know WordPress quite well, so all the Gatsby and React is new and not always well explained I still wonder sometimes about the why question and than Tom is already building the styles so that part might be covered in another coarse.

Tom is a decent speaker. He teached me most of the things to get started with a Gatsby powered headless Wordpress. He even developed Plugins for the Wordpress logo an favicon. Overall i liked this course, but there is room for improvements: I realy missed a section on how to optimize and lazyload images from Wordpress in Gatsby. Also Tom was not repling in the QA section, for topics i started or replied to, but i solved most of them myself after some try an error and research.

I really loved this course. It helped me build my portfolio page. And I learned so many new things a long the way. I'm not going to lie, I started getting frustrated at the end during the deployment phase of the course. But that was only because I didn't go to the frequently asked questions section of the course and look for an answer to my question. Even then, though, Tom was extremely helpful with finding a solution to my problem. Just remember, at the end, when you're deploying to netlify after all is said and done, and it still fails because of a 404 when trying to fetch /wp-json--CHECK THE FAQ!!!

This course was exactly what I needed. I was able to get a Gatsby Wordpress site up with very little React experience. I had a question about an error I was getting and Tom replied and even looked at my code to figure out how to resolve it. Thank you for that, and bravo on making a great course!

Excellent intro to Gatsby and WordPress. This course is extremely informative and moves along at a good pace. Tom responds to questions very quickly, which is an added bonus. If you are interested in building headless WordPress sites, I highly recommend this course. Well worth the time spent.

There is no endless chatter about this method or that method. Tom doesn't talk about his dog, or his kids, or his car. It is paced perfectly for just about anyone but if certain parts are moving too fast you can stop and jump back. Tom is one of the most active and involved instructors on Udemy. He is always lurking around waiting to answer questions. He's got a great course already but he is constantly updating it to make it even better. I will buy any future courses from Tom, no questions asked.

I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in learning GatsbyJS with WordPress. The course material is well put together. The videos are clear, easy to follow along, and enjoyable to watch. The instructor is highly active outside of udemy, plus you get access to a great Facebook community to help with questions. The instructor is also great at keeping the course up to date. 10/10 recommend

Straight to the point, no pep talkings, Tom delivers the course as a sharing-experience between two colleagues. From his experience, without pretensions of teaching but showing what he finds to be helpful, he drives the lectures smoothly intertwining react, graphQL and wordpress with gatsby in a minimalistic way that can be approachable by anybody. Don't expect complicated ract patterns as that's not the point; I really appreciate that from Tom, keeping the focus on the whole architecture, not react/wordpress/graphQL specific. Just be aware we are not talking about the old web patterns, so make sure you have a sound understanding of react, wordpress and REST APIs; and by his exposition, gatsby explanations will naturally fall in place almost unnoticeable; you will be using it already.
