We begin by learning to play Parts 1 and 2 of Malaguena,. exciting music from Spain.
We then take a look at technique, I'm sure you want to play at an advanced standard so this a is really important lesson.
Next comes a simplified version of Cascade which is romantic in style and introduces you to a right hand finger pattern called an arpeggio.
And then 3 descriptive very pieces, The Spider, In the Garden and Playtime.
Numerous scientific studies have proved that playing an instrument has huge benefits and enhances general educational learning as well as being incredibly enriching, not only that but playing the guitar is a great way for you to make new friends.

I've called upon my 35 years experience as a guitar teacher to create the DISCOVER CLASSICAL GUITAR and FINGERSTYLE BLUES GUITAR MADE EASY courses. I believe that that fastest progress is made by presenting students with a structured progression of varied and exciting music.
I'm as passionate as ever about teaching guitar, I find it wonderfully rewarding to witness the joy, enthusiasm and sense of achievement that learning this instrument brings.
Since studying the classical guitar under Antonio Albeniz at the Guildhall School of Music I have taught the instrument, on a one to one basis to thousands of students. mainly in a number of Kent schools, but also to many adults, some well into their 70's.
My students have played in countless concerts as soloists or within ensembles and many have chosen to perform on the classical guitar as part of their GCSE and A level recitals with some choosing to study music in further education using the classical guitar as their primary instrument.

This course is a gem. I went from being someone who couldn't play a thing on classical guitar to being able to play a few actual pieces of music that I wouldn't be embarrassed to play in front of friends and family. David explains things very well, breaking down the pieces into manageable chunks, as well as giving useful instruction on how to hold the guitar, finger placement, and plucking. What's rare about this course is that it is geared towards adults (in that you won't be learning to play 'Mary had a little lamb' or anything like that) and it's a classical guitar course where you'll learn to play classical-style pieces. I've enrolled on David's other course (Level 2) and will definitely be taking other courses from his collection in the future.

David was very good at explaining , he was methodical and I am pleased to have learnt several pieces very quickly. Sometimes, I couldn't see the positioning of the fingers on both hands very clearly or it was a bit rushed. The notes afterwards are very helpful. Only criticism but this may be down to my lack of technical expertise, was having to scroll through each lesson already done to get to the one I was on. Many thanks, would definitely recommend.

A great and well-thought course for truly beginners that want to step into classical guitar. It does not start with difficult music theory, instead, to learn small pieces with ease and joy. The pieces are well selected, it will quickly get familiar with some basic skills and further improved through daily practices without too many efforts. I completed the course by using my evening time to spend one hour or so. It is done in about two weeks and now I have picked at least three of my favorite pieces that I memorize them and to carry to my daily practices with great joy.

I am currently practicing the piece of lessen 5/9 in this course. So far, I am very happy I found this course. Three things I particularly like are 1) The structure is motivating - I feel that even as an absolute beginner I can play beautiful music (after some practice of course) 2) There is a good balance between instrucions/theory and practice and the instructions are clearly explained and demonstrated. 3) All videos are really about the content, there is no showing off of the instructor. I can recommend the course and I plan to continue with level 2, once I have studied all the pieces of level 1.

At this point I think I would do much better if I could read the music. I'm stumbling over frets and fingers during th einstruction.

A very good course for beginning Classical Guitar. Foundation habits are emphasized such as correct body posture, holding the guitar and the correct use of the right and left hand, as well as the 2 main types of finger picking. While the PDF material includes standard musical notation for those who read music, it also contains guitar tab and during the actual videos the teacher uses fret number positions to make the pieces easy to understand. The student is introduced to a well-known piece 'Malaguena' and a simplified piece 'Cascade' and then some of the teacher's own pieces suitable for the level that the student is working with. The teacher expresses himself clearly, approaches the material in a gradual matter without any large jumps and at the end of the course gives some points about playing to an audience.

First of all - I love the fact that the course has come valuable lessons - like the tracks (malagena for instance). The instructor appears to have extended knowledge on that subject - and i would give 5 stars for that. On the other hand...the content is totally mixed up - the course starts with teaching the track malagena...which for classical beginner like myself is quite advance (I still love that:) part ) but to just to put it in one or two tracks....and run with it???? - I ended up constantly rewinding the video in order to keep track what just been applied - Don't like that at all. Another thing..-after much advance track there are surprisingly numerous videos teaching you strokes!!!! - yes you right strokes!!! - I mean really? would be more logical to start with it..and then proceed to teaching tunes? Not mention the fact that those strokes videos are spread in few!!!! as opposed to the advanced tunes!!! that is a mystery to me. Overall - is very good quality videos, instructor is also very good but I think the course needs some proof testing and serious editing...like sorting the videos in right manner from basic stuff to more advanced....then when teaching more advance content spreading it in more smaller parts....so that the students can work on it accordingly. And lastly cutting shorter the basic strokes in one video - I don't know, it kind of makes me question instructors credentials.

This is an excellent introduction to playing the classical guitar. Instructor Green is friendly and personable, and very easy to follow. He is careful to explain everything, and demonstrates clearly, just as a tutor in a private studio would, when teaching face to face. This course walks the student through learning to play a handful of short and easy pieces that are really quite pretty (none of this "Go Tell Aunt Rhody" nonsense...), and starts from "holding the guitar." If you have what I think of as a "country-style" guitar, rather than a classical one, don't worry: he lets you know how to handle one of those properly, too. You really don't require any prior experience playing any instrument at all. The final lecture talks about how to prepare for and give a performance, and it applies to all levels of musicianship. Frankly, there were tips there I wish I'd heard before I'd gone to university as a music student.

The evaluaiton is in the results . So far I am finding this course excellent and would highly recommned it . I am playing the first piece on the giutar well now . And it didn't take long to get the hang of it . I would suggest introduing an example of the hand postions first , before teaching the piece of music though , as I had already picked uo that knowledge elsewhere and having it in advance helped me to progress more rapidly with the piece. I am so thrilled to be finally learning this skill on the guitar and loving the tuition .The instructions are clear and given at a good pace . I am very grateful and excited to have this opportunity to learn via the internet .Thank you !

As a secondary school music teacher with a specialism on piano, I often find it difficult to get my pupils playing the classical guitar properly with good technique and confidence. This video tutorial made it really easy getting all of my year 8's playing right from the off and even the more able pupils found the easy to follow instructions useful. Would definitely recommend for my fellow professionals!
