Jordy Vandeput

Hi, I'm Jordy and I hosts one of the biggest YouTube channels about filmmaking & video editing; Cinecom.

With more than 2.7 million subscribers, we publish weekly tutorial videos. After graduating from film school in 2012, I immediately began teaching online where my real passion lays.

I've never liked the way education works. So I wanted to do something about it. With the classes I produce, I try to separate myself from the general crowd and deliver a course experience rather than some information thrown at a student.

Take a look at my unique courses, I'm sure you'll enjoy :-)

I struggle with technical stuff, and I feel this course breaks it down into digestible chunks to absorb the information. His is greatly appreciated for someone like me. Learning to use my DSLR camera has been a challenge for me and this course has shed some light on how use the video options and the filming techniques were great to watch. I can't wait to plan out some projects to practice.

This was a good introduction to film making. I wish the instructor would have added more course material and went more into depth. It seems like this could have been the first chapter in his film making course. Some PDF's with information presented would be helpful as well. More examples of what is "good" filmmaking versus what is "bad" would really help new students out. There is no mention on how to edit your video. I believe this would have helped students greatly for an example on how to do it.

I really enjoyed the course; the instructor was very engaging and provided excellent real world examples which I found helpful and easy to understand. I appreciated the quizzes throughout, and the high production value of the video content (which I suppose one would expect from a video production course). This is an excellent overview of videography (photography too, for that matter), and there is a great deal of information squeezed into 1.5 hours... but an hour and a half definitely isn't enough time to become a "pro" at anything. It's very much a 10,000ft view of the basics of videography. For example, the lighting section introduced the 3 point lighting technique, but didn't discuss different types of studio lights (or how to set them up). Audio recording and post-production weren't covered (other than "be sure to shoot lots of B roll because you'll want it when you're editing" and "get your white balance right and then adjust for any moody tones you desire in post"). I would have loved to learn more about sliders and other stabilization equipment and how to use them. All that said, I mean this review as a compliment... I loved what there was, I just want more! Thanks for a wonderful course.

This course is wonderful! The information is well planned, expertly delivered, and is backed up with great examples. I've already learned a lot and my confidence with the camera has definitely increased. Also, the teacher is clear, confident, and likeable. Go for this course - you won't regret it! (One small criticism... I found that a few of the test questions were not phrased in a way that was easily referenced in the lessons. I say this with a background in teaching in curriculum creation. These issues, however, were extremely minor.)

This was a very positive and energetic course with great information. I learned a lot and although have a long way to go, I feel that this course has provided a great foundation ....
