Course Description

Have you been thinking about making the move to Final Cut Pro X (FCPX), but were afraid to do so?
Do you find yourself limited by iMovie or any other consumer movie editing software, and you want more power to express your creativity?
You're not sure if FCPX is right for you or worth your investment?

Take this short less-than-1-hour course and all your questions will be answered!
FCPX is in fact a full-blown professional video editing software package, but as it's made by Apple, it is still powerful AND user friendly at the same time! All you need is this short course to get you started, and once you know the basics, you'll be able to create movies without fear.
Once you have this knowledge mastered, it'll be much easier to learn more. There's always more to learn in FCPX. Heck, even I'm learning something new about this amazing program every now and then. At least now you'll know what information to look for.
If you're already using iMovie and you're bothered by its limitations then this course is especially suited for you. Both programs share some common concepts so the switch between those 2 apps will be the easiest. But the apps are clearly different and I will show the main differences in this course.
If you haven't been using iMovie before, but you've answered YES to any of the questions above then this course is also for you as I will show you and explain how FCPX works.
I'll clearly also explain the main advantages of Final Cut Pro X and what makes it a PRO app that's way much better than iMovie or any other consumer video editor.
So there's no reason to be scared to try out FCPX since:
  • you have this less-than-1-hour course that shows you through all the basics
  • this course has Udemy's 30-day guarantee
  • FCPX is user-friendly so it's easy to catch the basics and create complete movies quickly
  • Apple provides a 30-day trial of FCPX (which I'll show you where to get it from)
So even if you're not sure the app is worth your investment, with the 30-day free trial and this short course, you can get up-to-speed quickly and use the full 30 days to evaluate the app and make a smart purchase decision.
And as all my students already know, once enrolled in my class, you'll get my full support with your questions either in the public Q&A section or in private messages.
This course was created using FCPX 10.3 which was released on Oct. 27, 2016 with a new modern user interface.
I'm sure you will enjoy this class and I can't wait to see the amazing movies you will make!
Who this course is for:
  • iMovie users who want more power and need more features than what iMovie can give them
  • Those thinking about moving to FCPX but are afraid of moving to such a pro app
  • People who are not sure if FCPX is the movie editor for them or not can get a quick overview in this course
  • New users to FCPX who want a quick start guide

Hi, I'm Rafi. Originally from Belgium. I have an MS degree in Computer Science from Columbia University.
While I've been a software engineer and a manager at hi-tech firms for many years, I was also always busy doing music, video, and photography.
I also manage a few YouTube channels that I own and I teach online courses.
I've been using the Macintosh computer since the early days of the Mac Plus and I always enjoyed all the software and tools that this platform provided us. Over the years these tools allowed us to produce more and more professional products on our own using our personal computers. Things that once required big studios, you can do today at home using relatively cheap software.
I'm very passionate about everything creative that I do, and that certainly includes audio and video work.
On the audio side, I have experienced with different DAWs until I finally settled on Apple's Logic Pro. I compose, play, arrange, and sing.
On the video side, it really started as a hobby with the first release of iMovie. At the time I was using a tape-based DV camera. But iMovie was the first video editor that allowed anyone to do magic. Suddenly there was a way to use the hours of footage that we all recorded on vacations and other occasions, and produce a much shorter and cool movie that people would actually be willing to sit and watch. I was hooked right away.
Over time I used all versions of iMovie and at some point I mad

This is a good quick overview of Final Cut Pro X.

By Lois

First, let me say that Rafi is a very kind instructor. He really takes you by the hand and makes you learn new things step by step and easy to follow. The videos in this course really help me to make the step from iMovie (also a course he gives going into more depth of that application) to FCPX easy.

And I haven't even finished this one hour course yet ...

FCPX has so much to offer that it can be overwelming. It kept me away from it for weeks, just being afraid I would drown. But this FCPX course, makes me feel more comfortable and now I just want to start with FCP X.

This course really made sense to me, especially after the iMovie course from Rafi. For all beginners, it's a good start. And we all know ... You've got to start somewhere ;-) Better start with a good start, when you've got the choice, right?

2 thumbs up!

(this was not an advertisement - just so you know - I am just a student with some enthusiasm in my voice)

Clear, methodical, thorough, everything I needed to get started on this amazing piece of software. Highly recommended.

By Lucas Assenmacher

Stellar as always. Quick and easy, and surely got me over the iMovie to Final Cut pro mental block.

This was a great way to get me started in FCP X. I've been wanting to make the transition for a while, but kept feeling intimidated when I couldn't find basic functions or features in FCPX. Rafi does a great job of helping you learn the basics so you can complete a project and get familiar with the new process and capabilities. Highly recommend his quick course if you're looking to make the jump, but feel intimidated by the software.

This course promises to instruct those who know iMovie to Final Cut Pro X in less than an hour. It fails. I know iMovie well. Final Cut is a much more robust application. Author does a minimal about of explaining how iMovie features and techniques work in Final Cut. He gets bogged down into explaining how to use Final Cut assuming you have knowledge. In the end I found Free YouTube better. This course confuses and doesnt deliver.
