I’ve watched Hussain’s YouTube videos and learned a lot from them. I don’t have to finish the course to give it five stars, so I just gave it five stars.

Amazing instructor and tons of valuable information in this course. My only issue is that this course could have been compressed to a much shorter and polished version; the 30 hours could be easily 20 hours or less, and only focused on objective information. The course is probably and mostly shot for YouTube content, then was organized into a Udemy course. The issue comes when you try to watch it as a course. Lots of the time, it goes into unnecessary details and discussions, repetitions, and subjective takes that consume time and introduce confusion in some cases. This could be ok for YouTube, but I expect content on Udemy to be direct and focused. That said, I learned TONS of new stuff in this course, and I'm glad I've invested the time into it. High level courses are always appreciated. Too many courses start from way too ground, which is a good thing for many people, but some people are not starting from ground and this course is perfect for us

update later. i like the backend course of Mr. Hussein, so i'm checking out this one. many advanced concepts, high-level view of the database and its internal workings, content is more about relational databases, can we have more in-depth discussion and demo with nosql?

This course has enlightened me to things I didn't know about in the database. In the past, a database for me was just a place to store data consisting of rows and columns. Now, I have realized how the database is the main pillar of software, and how the decision of setting a specific database strategy drastically affects the performance of software. What I also love about Eng. Hussain is how down-to-earth his elaboration of certain definitions is. I feel that he personally rejects the idea of filling the contents with jargon and academic definitions. Kudos to him for handling this point with a cheerful and engaging attitude! Side Note: The course is amazing. The last few sections, however, are filled with long hours of discussion that I struggled to get solid info from. It's amazing to listen to them as a podcast, but with someone with ADHD like myself, my attention span cannot handle hours of listening to perspectives and extracting information from them.

I appreciate and love the course. From the content to the teaching style. I learned a lot. It's great that Hussein has a funny and relatable personality. Contrary to some reviews: I don't find that more seriousness or more focus would help. Software engineering and staying up to date is hard enough; making the topics more human, making some jokes, some philosophy, explaining the history of technologies, digressing, gesticulating and everything that makes Hussein who he is. It helps my brain connect different ideas and see the whole picture; it's perfectly okay that "a video about X" also talks about Y and Z or tells the history of why X exists etc. I prefer that my brain makes the effort of how to categorize and reorganize information, instead of having a clear and cut answer like "do A not B". So, loved the course and would do it again! Thank you Hussein

I think I learned a lot. Since I did not have a degree from computer science, it was a very useful course to fill some gaps in my understanding of databases. I really envy the depth of the instructors knowledge.

Overall course is quite good. Few issues is mainly with structure of course, videos are from 2 mins to like 1.5h long. Delivery is pretty chaotic, instructor knows a lot but it feels like he has information overflow issues and problems with focusing on what is actually the topic - easily drifts away for minutes at the time to some slightly related topic. It makes it quite hard to follow at the times. Delivery is also a bit annoying with ocassional singing, laughing at his own jokes and adding some weird phrases and words trying to sound funny or cool or whatever. Dont think it;s needed - regular delivery of instructor is really good - would be way better without those things. Gesticulation usually makes no sense - talks about sth else and hand gestures are not empowering the message ut feel like are random and just more of a distraction that help. Some parts fo course feel like just a bunch of separate youtube videos put in here. 1h long videos with no visual support - just instructor talking to a mic about everything he knows about that topic - impossible to follow. Instructor has great knowledge but a bit of issues with structuring, focusing and delivery.

This course is really great! Hussein has an awesome hands-on teaching style, and he's clearly a specialist in the subject. Learned a lot about a variety of topics on databases and database performance. The topic that I was most interested about was indexing, which the course covered nicely, could learn a lot and apply it on my job on the very next day, so couldn't be more satisfied, highly recommended!
