I entered into the world of CNC Machining in 1991 as an apprentice for British Aerospace. After a four year apprenticeship I spent the following 26 years programming, operating and setting a full range of CNC Machines, including Lathes and milling machines.
I specialise in programming FANUC and Heidenhain machine tool operating systems up to 12 Axis.
My main roles involved hand coding at the machine instead of using CAD/CAM software.

VERY helpful so far!! The instructor spends the vast majority of the time explaining the necessary material, while highlighting information that we will learn later. This is extremely helpful for such complex material. If he didn't break things down and explain them so simply, I would have a very hard time retaining any information. Thanks!

Need to go and unbox my giant paperweight cnc machine and let it cut something, this course made me think its not going to be impossible. just seeing the actual interface between the generated programs and the machine might have been an extra lecture that would have helped reduce the level of faith needed to believe that with this software training I'll be in position to make a product roll off the cnc bed.

I've messed with cnc lasers and routers but never have been proficient....a hack at best. This class is absolutely awesome! My confidence, knowledge, and want to learn more is through the roof now! Thanks for the great lessons Marc!!

I still have unanswered questions... 1. Is the placement of the origin on the stock important or is it okay to just let Fusion 360 place it? 2. Is it possible to alter the start point of the milling? 3. Does the code automatically return the machine to the home position on job completion? 4. Is hand tightening of the chuck sufficient or should a torque wrench be used?

Nice introduction - I was able to try some of the things described, will go back and improve my own efforts further before using what I learned on the new CNC Router. I've never done this before but feel able to at least get started.

Very good course. It was surprising how easy it is to get started with CAM CNC milling/routing. As a CAD beginner, I did find I benefited from taking a Fusion 360 lesson first, so I could keep up with the sketching portion of the course.

When I went into cnc routing as a hobby I was a little intimidated by Fusion 360. I have a book on Fusion 360 but reading the book and understanding what to do are different. Watching the video and being able to pause and rewind is a much better way to learn the process.

would have like to see a bit information regarding speeds for different materials particularly when using multiple depths for machining profiles or pockets. one thing i notice not covered any where, was how to set the datum position and height for the component that is to be machined.

I found that some items were skipped over or not enough detail was given. It was assumed that the student won't use the 3D CAM options and therefore that wasn't covered at all. When a problem was encountered with entering in the information for the custom engraving tool, he just said forget about it and picked a different tool instead of walking the student through the issue to help them learn. I feel like a lot more should have been covered in this course.

Gave a good introduction with just enough information to get over the fear of not knowing where to start, but left it there with an ad for the "full course". I still feel this was a valuable experience and it allowed me to get the start I needed.
