Course Description
Ever dreamt of making your own 2D action-adventure game? Then you're in luck!
Whether you're a total newbie or switching to Godot, this course will walk you through creating an amazing game from scratch—no prior experience needed!
We’re talking puzzles, NPCs, combat, and an expansive world to explore. Think classic Zelda-like gameplay, but made by you. By the end, you'll have a fully playable game, plus the skills to build your own adventure-packed worlds.
You'll master GDScript, Godot’s custom scripting language, so you can make enemies chase the player, NPCs drop wisdom, and puzzles actually work. We’ll keep the code beginner-friendly, but powerful enough to level up your dev skills.
You’ll learn to craft tilemaps and terrains to build your world, add hidden rooms and treasure chests, and create a combat system where slimes aren’t just cute—they’re dangerous. (No mercy, they must be defeated.)
Most tutorials teach you how to make tiny, unfinished games. That’s cool and all, but this course goes all the way—from blank project to fully structured, feature-rich game. No half-baked mechanics. No confusing gaps.
You’ll learn by doing, with clear explanations and challenges to make sure you actually understand what you’re coding.
This course is perfect for total beginners, or devs looking to jump into Godot 4 without getting lost. No game dev experience? No problem. You just need a computer (Windows, Linux, or Mac) and a bit of curiosity!
By the end, you'll have more than just a game—you'll have the confidence to build your own.
If you've ever wanted to bring your dream game to life, now’s your chance. Let’s make something awesome together!

This course was geared more toward beginners than I was expecting. It was enlightening to learn how to leverage more of the built-in node functionality rather than wiring everything through scripts. The course could have benefited from a little bit better code organization. Overall, it was a fun course that covered a good variety of concept.

This instructor is amazing for a first-time learner. As someone with very little coding knowledge, I appreciated that the instructor made it easy to learn. Instead of just giving lines of code to make the game, they break down each line of code, explain what each part does, give some examples, and then offer a challenge to test your knowledge. I really enjoyed learning how to make a game with this course.

I recently completed this basic Godot course and I’m very satisfied with it. The lessons are clear, well-structured, and easy to follow even for beginners. The instructor explains concepts in a simple way, and the practical examples make learning engaging and fun. I feel much more confident in using Godot now. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to get started with game development!

This was an amazing course. I took some visual basics and regular coding way back in the day in high school, but wanted to see what modern game creation looked like. I was so pleased with how well this course was structured. I love that it is taught at a nice pace, and then the teacher takes a step back on a regular basis to let you try and figure it out yourself with challenges. I have other courses lined up, and am very excited to start!

Great course! As a begginer it was really easy to follow instructions. At first I was feeling like a fish trying to climb a tree, but moving deeper into the course I started to get the hang of it how scary complex things turn out to be smaller simpler things put together. Thank you very much for the lessons, I really enjoyed them and could not wait to continue. Very enjoyed learning together with instructor Ahmed, hopefully in the future a more advanced course comes out with him diving deeper into mechanics of this type of 2D RPG/adventure games teaching more of core game development concepts like UIs, Inventories, perhaps even complicated boss enemies and more, thank you!

I really enjoyed this Godot course. Everything was clearly explained and very well structured, making it easy to follow even for someone without much experience. The instructor did a great job of guiding through each concept step by step. I learned a lot and feel much more confident using Godot now. Highly recommended!

I liked the course, it's a good introduction to Godot. However, at section 6-7 it started to get a bit messy. The code itself isn't very maintainable. The concept of a state machine similar like in GameDev Unity courses would've been perfect here, I don't think it'd complicate for the beginner since there aren't many state.

Really great course, easy to follow even though I had no prior experience with Godot. I had a lot of fun with the creation of the game, and it was a good learning experience. Every step for the game development is shown, and the explanations are simple enough to understand even without prior knowledge of GDScript. I had only some minor programming experience before (with Ren'py), and I still had a good time and learned a lot.

Great course! I definitely learned a lot and it feels like a solid foundation to build upon. I especially appreciated the coding challenges which helped me apply concepts as they were being taught. The provided asset pack has so much more to explore and makes me excited to experiment with building out my own world. I'm planning to continue practicing what I learned while using the awesome sprites, tiles, and effects. Thanks so much for an enjoyable course!

Pretty good course; I took it having extensive knowledge in programming and some practice with other game engines, mostly just to have a quick overview of Godot, and it was pretty good for my objectives I think he does a pretty good job at explaining some core concepts of programming as you go, so it should be good for people starting from scratch Of course, if you start from scratch and do just this course, you won't know enough to actually go into the wilds and create a big game; but it is a good idea to try and package the game here, maybe add stuff that is missing such as a game over screen, a title screen, some sort of save/load system, etc, but don't go too far Overall, pretty good course - it's clear and well structured, and I love the challenge method from GameDevTV
