Course Description

Welcome to How to Draw and Paint Backgrounds. I'm excited you're taking this course because you're a creative artist that wants awesome looking backgrounds. You're the reason I created this course and because many of my students requested it.

Beginner and established artists requested it.

If you're a beginner, you will learn step-by-step to draw and paint awesome backgrounds.

Even if you are already proud of your backgrounds, you will learn to draw and paint them on a whole new level.

You can do this. I know how I used to feel, like I would never draw or paint good backgrounds, landscapes, interiors, etc, but once I learned a few key points, I started to draw good backgrounds.

Here are a few of those key points that you will learn in this course.

Making perspective easy.
Composition:
Learning how to use the basics of Google Sketchup that will

give you a jump start in drawing and painting backgrounds. It's almost like cheating,

but great artists like the guy who draws for Dare Devil comics uses it.
How to use form in backgrounds.

So who is this guy, you might be thinking.

I am a top art instructor here at Udemy with over 10,000 students and a bestselling author on Amazon for How to Draw Awesome Figures.

So, hey, follow along with me by enrolling in the course and learn to draw and paint backgrounds like you never have before.
Who this course is for:
This course is for anyone that wishes to draw amazing backgrounds for their art, such as comics, storyboards, paintings, illustrations, etc. This course is not for those that already draw and paint amazing backgrounds.

Instructor Details

Neil Fontaine

I'm a best selling author on Amazon for "How to Draw Awesome Figures."
I studied art at different schools, one of them being a community college in San Jose, Ca. Over the years, subjects in art finally clicked. I teach these subjects in ways that make it easy to grasp. It's hard to brag about myself, but students have written me emails saying how they have learned more from me than they did in art schools, art schools such as Academy of Arts in San Franscico. That blew my mind because it's supposed to be a great school.
Ialso sell abstract paintings that I painted while meditating. A recent painting sold for $10,963. If enough art students ask, I will make a course on how to abstract paint. You can see my paintings at saatchiArt
I'm also a writer that has sold novels.

The lessons where the author develops a color panel from pencil sketch to final complete multi-color drawing was eye-opening. I'm amazed at the amount of work that can go into comic illustration. Some of the exercises could use a little more demonstration by the author. Great course, overall.

OK so far, delivery seems a bit low energy but not bad. getting good info here.

Hmmm, 4 lessons in and I'm wondering if this guy is a good enough artist to be teaching this subject.

I'm enjoying this course. The instructor brings important considerations of making a background. Nice presentation.

Excellent in depth explanation of composition.

Instructor could use more preparation such as having examples of good and bad compositions set up instead of playing around to create more video content.
Characters started transparent and then was filled in whereas he could have rerecorded them filled in already. Seemed like it was done in one take.

the instructor explains things really well , this course helped me understanding backgrounds more , thank you .

I'm in my fourth year of art school and I need help with environments as my school doesn't provide enough content. I liked the composition part of the course but the drawing skills of the instructor are very basic. Tangents galore, blatant perspective and anatomy mistakes. It's hard to focus when you see so many errors.

Very helpful with where to place subject(s) on the background and how to arrange the picture/drawing in general
