I'm a computer programmer and I find the best lessons give you code that is reproducible and extensible. In other words, code you can use and code you add to. This course does that, it provides you with characters that can be duplicated and added to. Drawing courses have another metric to go by; does the lesson put a pencil/pen in your hand more or less? I'm in my 60's my hands don't make a straight line without shaking, but this course is making me want to try more than any other. I'm still working on the first character. Will you get hyper realistic drawings? No, If, however, you're looking for a course to help you put a pencil in your hand that doesn't overwhelm you, that gives you a good starting place, this is it.

Maybe I misunderstood the class and it’s on me, but I was expecting more tips on coming up with characters and such, rather than a more expensive art hub for kids… some of these characters are interesting, but I feel like I was going to understand the process more.

I found this to be incredibly fun and easy to follow along with. The teacher is very engaging and makes the whole process entertaining as well as informative. You start on the first lesson and before you know it - poof - an hour or so is gone and you have a couple of pages full of cute illustrations. Looking forward to taking the course for female faces soon. Highly recommend this course and this teacher.

I love this course. The instructor's personality, voice, and presentation are lively, engaging, and easy to follow. I am not sure I am learning much about drawing, but it is just SO MUCH FUN. Each lesson is a new face. They are short 3-minute videos with narrated step-by-step instructions. You may not learn a heap about drawing, but if you are looking for a fun and easy way to create cartoon faces, look no further, this is it. I will be taking more courses from this instructor, for sure.

Funny characters and description ! I love how he makes up the stories about them and what's going on in their lives ! I would love if he would go just a step deeper and explain when and how he choose the shapes for the head's and the details for every character. Maybe some pictures of real people in order to give a better example Despite that I've already bought another course of his about women faces !

I really enjoy it. It fits the purpose of having some fun while learning to draw, easy to understand. But maybe some creative analysis could be added, like how I can see people's faces as shapes and create my own cartoon figures, it would be even better! In general, it's fun!

I've been working on character design based from simple shapes because they are easier to animate for a one-man operation. This course was another great tool to add to my "imagination jump-start kit." All the example characters are fun and expressive. Even more importantly, however, they spark the student's imagination. Simple detail tweaks and adjustments can create a completely new, original creation. Great course!

I love this course. It's so easy to lose the fun aspects of learning how to draw when focusing on the fundamentals. I am quite fond of the Aussie accent and humor of the instructor, and he goes over how to make simple shapes into a polished drawing. This course is refreshing and is nice after going through several no nonsense courses on Udemy.

Malcolm draws cartoon characters well! He has great ideas and I enjoyed participating in this course. VOICE: although unusually deep, Malcolm pronounces his words clearly and speaks slowly. Overall, he was easy to understand and worked at a steady pace. CONTENT: This course teaches how to draw cartoon people in black and white. Malcolm used quite a few types of people to practice drawing including children and adults. His methods are simple yet effective. STYLE: simple pen and ink drawings that were easy to follow. He starts each drawing by using a series of shapes over which he builds up into appealing images. Malcolm takes time to explain and illustrate his good methods. At the end of each drawing, he leaves the viewer with an ideal example of the finished character. THIS COURSE IS IDEAL FOR Anyone who wishes to learn how to draw cartoon people. It’s an ideal activity to take along on long journeys. WHAT I LIKED BEST: The way he illustrated how to differentiate between adults and children. Eg: children will have bigger heads and smaller shoulders. WHAT I HOPE TO SEE FROM MALCOLM in the future on Udemy: People in action; running, walking, sitting, jumping. Although I received this as a FREE course, I think it’s highly recommendable.
