Course Description

Update August 2018: I've heard your feedback and I've built the entire course from scratch! I've kept the old material and you can still access it at the end of the new course. The old course focused on the fundamentals of HTML and CSS, the new course is 100% project driven and teaches you how to build a professional website WHILE teaching the core HTML and CSS concepts along the way.
Hi and welcome to the HTML/CSS Bootcamp course, where we'll walk through the same course I teach code bootcamp students around the world. My name is Jordan Hudgens, and I'll be your instructor for the course. In addition to being the lead instructor for devCamp I've also been building web applications for over a decade for organizations such as Eventbrite and Quip.
In this course, you're going to learn all of the key skills that you're going to need in order to start building out professional websites. Before building this new course out, I interviewed hiring managers at companies around the world and asked them what HTML/CSS skills they expected developers to know and that's how I came up with the list of concepts that you're going to learn.
Some of the skills that you're going to learn are going to be:
  • HTML5
  • CSS3
  • Flexbox
  • CSS Grid
  • Animations
  • Media queries for building responsive layouts from scratch
  • CSS Selectors
  • Navigation
  • Fonts
  • Forms
  • How to integrate and style images
  • Front end development best practices
  • And much more!
As we go through the course material, you'll notice that I'm going to teach you my own process that I use whenever I'm building out a website.
My goal for this entire course isn't just to teach you how to build a single website, but instead my goal is to be able to leverage this project build that we're going to put together, teach you the fundamentals as we implement every single feature, and then by the end of it, you're not just going to be able to build the single website and follow along with what I do, but you'll be able to build any type of website.
There are no technical prerequisites for going through this course. This is the perfect course to go through if you want to learn how to build websites completely from scratch.
The ideal student is someone who is dedicated, wants to learn, and also wants to learn how to build websites using the most modern and up to date technologies. So, thank you for spending the time and going through this material, and good luck with the coding.Who this course is for:
  • Anyone interested in learning what it takes to build websites with HTML and CSS

Foi muito bom, aprendi bastante coisa, mas senti que depois do segundo site que montei junto ao professor o resto foi bastante corrido e com copia e cola, no ruim, mas achei que poderia ter tido mais reforos de explicaes. No final aprendi muita coisa.

I like his style of instruction. I learned a great deal by his fully explaining the process. Good job.

Jordan is an exceptional instructor - many know their material but what sets him apart is his ability to clearly explain the course material by breaking it down slowly and most importantly speak in a non-programmer language in order to communicate with new students such as myself who are just learning the fundamentals.

I have always wanted a comprehensive web development tutorial and I think I have found one. Except, the serveraspect of connecting to a database. I want to interact witha database from my UI application--retrieve data, update, and add to it.

The explications are no so clear, sometime it look's out of the box.Anyway, this course is ok, but not as good as I imagined.

Very happy with this course so far. The instructor is doing a great job of explaining everything clearly. I am currently only 20% of the way through the course, having just finished the homepage but have learnt a great deal already. Before starting this course I knew the very basics of HTML and CSS, having read through a few online references. I wanted a tutorial with a bit of "hands on" experience and this course has been great...

I had to stop in the middle of a lesson to give this review. This guy is freaking amazing. I am almost ready to start section three, so I have not gone through the entire course yet -- but I have purchased two other CSS bootcamp-like courses, and this is the one instructor that has been able to hold my attention thus far. His style is conversational, yet very organized and straight to the point. His explanations on every concept allow me to see very clearly what is going on. I love this course and it is probably the first course on html/CSS I will devour until the end!

Very good projects for understanding HTML and CSS from very basics!

This is a great course - exactly what manyudemy courses are missing. The instructor is a very capable English speaker, takes his time to explain it all, does not rush, teaches with real-world examples, starts with most important technologies and abandons the cover-it-all approach for a use-it-when-you-need-it-approach. Great stuff.

Well explained,

This has been great for learning how to make static web pages look amazing! I feel confident in going to business and building their web pages now.

So far the course met my expectations. It's perfectly structured and I am learning so much in so little time. Thanks!
