Course Description

Hi, I'm Brad and I’m thrilled you are interested in joining me for this International Economics course—the perfect place to explore how global trade and business shape our lives.

Economics isn’t just about numbers or theories; it’s about people, decisions, and the interconnected world we all share.

This course includes 35+ video lessons and downloadable notes that cover:

  • Introduction to International Economics

  • The Benefits and Drawbacks of Global Free Trade

  • Protectionism: Tariffs, Subsidies, and Quotas Explained

  • Floating and Fixed Exchange Rate Systems

  • The Relationship Between Exchange Rates and International Trade

  • Balance of Payments: How International Trade is Accounted For

  • Economic Integration and Trading Blocs

And, of course, a love for Economics that I hope is contagious!

I teach Economics because it fascinates me. It’s the study of human behavior—how we make choices, interact, and respond in an economic setting. But it’s also so much more than that. Economics provides the tools to better understand global politics, cultural dynamics, and the tensions shaping our world today.

This course is designed to empower you with the knowledge and insights to think critically about international trade, its impact on your daily life, and its influence on the global economy.

A Weekly Bonus

As part of this course, you’ll receive a subscription to my weekly newsletter, Just One Thing. Each Monday, you’ll get a two-minute breakdown of one essential economic concept, delivered straight to your inbox. It’s a quick and stress-free way to expand your understanding of economics, one idea at a time.

I’ve been lucky to see the world through a unique lens—as a former Peace Corps Volunteer, a graduate of Duke University, and someone who has traveled to over 55 countries. These experiences deeply influence how I teach economics, with real-world examples, a global perspective, and a passion for making these concepts relatable to everyone.

Economics is more than charts and data—it’s about people, stories, and understanding the world we live in.

I’m excited to be a part of the learning journey with you through International Economics.

Great course of International Economics, in the same line as the rest of the courses from Brad Cartwright. Great teacher, explains every concept in a really understandable way, full of examples that make it really easy to learn everything.

Overall I think this was a good course. It gave a good foundation and definitely helped me better understand the areas I was looking to strengthen. I did find myself wishing for more in-depth explanations on certain points or definitions, but I understand that it might not have been within the scope of the course. I also found some of the misspeaking and stumbling through some of the examples to be a little confusing at times. Some times it would be very early on in the recording and I kind of wish it could have been redone, I just found it distracting at times. Overall I would recommend this class to someone else.

Very well explained and entertaining. I'd suggest to also explain some overall economical schools of thought so that people understand more why some governments behave a certain way, but mainly because I want the world to understand that Hayek/Huerta de Soto > Keynes/Marx. Great work!

The notes was sometimes a bit confusing because it was written twice. Also, I don't prefer when teachers say that a subjet is hard... That messes with my motivation to learn. Overall pretty good tho. Love the enegy, keep it up!

Hello and thank you so much for this course! So far, I think I enjoyed this course the most. Everything was explained very clearly with the presentations, the information was summarized in a way that I can learn it faster. I especially like the fact that you are providing a great number of resources and every lesson has notes of the most important points after it so that I can revise it afterwards. Thank you so much and I will definitely check your other courses too.

I have two tech degrees and thus have very little information on economics, I appreciate that Brad has demystified international economics in this course and that he makes little assumptions and lays all the information bare.

This was not the first time I had taken a course with this instructor, but I know I can expect quality lessons each time. Very good explanation of concepts that are discussed at a higher education level made simple. My only suggestion would be to provide a problem example in the balance of payments unit at the end. Something that, along with the diagram, demonstrates the concept numerically so students can actually see the "balancing" part. Otherwise, excellent course and course bundle

I have now had the pleasure of completing two of Brad's courses. Without any doubt, his courses are by far the best Economics courses available on Udemy. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants or needs to learn this subject.

Hey, thanks a lot for the great series of courses. I'm not an economics student (and far from being a student overall) but I wish to expand my general knowledge of how the world works and to be able to take more informed personal financial decisions. I went through 3 of your courses (micro-, macro- and international) and it pretty much satisfied my desire to fill the gaps and to organize whatever chaotic and fragmented knowledge I had. I also certainly see the improvement of teaching style throughout these 3 courses. At first it was quite sparse for me in terms of content density, simplifications, repetitiveness and somewhat annoying habits ("rolling on" in the end of each video, in particular, but OK, this happens with other courses too), but the international economics course is almost up to my expectations. I would still like it to be more in-depth is it leaves a feeling that it is made suitable for schoolchildren and not for educated adults. Maybe if you want to preserve the lightness of the course it could be achieved through optional videos that expand on every topic, have more hardcore details and are more densely packed with information. I still feel like a lot of ground was not covered. For example, I expected to hear about countries debts and defaults and how it affects their trading partners, investments etc., some historical examples of that; effect of wars; or how economic integration works with fiscal and monetary policies, how all of this combines with inflation and maybe some examples of business and debt cycles and dissecting historical events like 2008 crisis. Also for previous courses, supply/demand graphs and explanations seemed to be oversimplified and I was missing some alternatives to neoclassical and Keynesian approaches. In general, I did like your informal way of presenting and have now built a solid base for going more in depth on my own. Thanks a lot!

An enjoyable subject, definitely my favourite of all the econ courses! Interesting concepts, combined with quality personal examples that are easily relatable. The presentation is down right uplifting! I would love to see more study breaks!
