Our take
Based on the ratings of 76 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in January 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
Lindsay Marsh, a freelance graphic designer with over 20 years of client work, built this as a short primer for creatives who feel unsure about AI. It runs 1.4 hours across 9 lectures, and no software is needed. The syllabus covers how chat tools and image generators work, prompt basics, design vocabulary, legal and ethical issues, and a bonus lesson on spotting fake AI photos.
Reviewers say she explains things clearly and keeps it from feeling overwhelming. Two of them single out the downloadable resources, and one adds the guides and student projects, which give her something to practise with afterward. The complaints are mild. One four-star reviewer wanted more practical examples, and another wished for a guided design project using AI. That fits the syllabus, which is all concepts and no hands-on build. The rating is 4.7 from 76 reviews, with 51 of them five stars.
The course is new, published in January 2026, and has 486 students so far, so the review sample is small. At this length it is a quick, low-risk place to start. Anyone who already prompts image tools every day may find it basic. Beginners who want to understand the tools before they use them should get what they came for. The instructor hopes to build a hands-on series from here, but that is not in this course yet.
Pros
- Reviewers call the explanations clear and not overwhelming
- Downloadable guides and student projects give practice beyond the videos
- Bonus lesson on spotting AI photos made with Nano Banana Pro
- Covers legal and ethical issues of AI in creative work, not only prompting
Cons
- No hands-on design project; it is concepts and prompt basics only
- Only 1.4 hours, so prompting depth is limited for regular users
- Small sample so far: 76 reviews and 486 students
This was extremely helpful for me, who has been trying to understand how AI works in the creative field. Lindsay is an excellent instructor, and has a way of explaining things very clearly.

Course Description
This beginner friendly class is your entry point into the world of AI, designed specifically for creatives. We’ll cover:
The core concepts behind how different AI models function, from image generators (diffusion models like Nano Banana or Midjourney) to chat-based tools like ChatGPT and Google Gemini.
The basics of writing prompts and how to improve them through practice
Expand your descriptive vocabulary that will help you generate more accurate and expressive imagery
Legal and ethical considerations when using AI in creative work
How to spot Fake AI images
And much more (This class will be updated and expand over time)
A lot has changed in the AI space over the last few years. When it first emerged, many of us, including myself, saw it as a novelty, something experimental but not yet essential.
Fast forward to now, and AI models have advanced to a point where they can almost replicate human creativity, or at the very least, convincingly mimic it. Nearly every major tech company has invested billions into AI development, which has accelerated improvements in training, research, and accessibility.
It's no surprise that many creative professionals such as photographers, designers, and illustrators are feeling uneasy. The fear of being replaced by AI is real, and it makes sense.
That’s exactly why I created this course.
After spending hundreds of hours exploring the latest AI tools and models, I’ve come away with a renewed sense of hope. I believe AI isn’t here to replace us. It’s here to work with us. When used wisely, it can amplify our ideas, unlock new creative workflows, and help us stay relevant in a changing industry.
Think of learning to write prompts as learning how to draw or speak a new language. At first, it feels unfamiliar. But as you build your vocabulary and practice, you'll be able to clearly describe your vision and bring it to life using these tools.
This mini course is for anyone who has felt intimidated, overwhelmed, or unsure about where to begin with AI. It's tailored for creatives and designers, giving you the confidence to start using these tools without losing your artistic identity.
My hope is that this class becomes the foundation for a larger series, where we’ll move into hands-on design projects that use AI in meaningful and exciting ways. But first, we need to understand the basics of how it all works, and that’s exactly what this course will help you do.
So let’s get started.
See you in the FIRST lesson!
This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

I love Lindsay Marsh's teaching method. This was a simple and not overwhelming introduction to AI. I learnt a lot from this short course. I really love the additional resources, guides and student projects included with the course, so you do not only watch the course and forget it afterwards. You get to practise it in your own time, and the resources can be used for your life. The only tiny disappointment is that I wish she did a design project with AI to guide us, but I would really like it even if she did a whole new course on that. Overall, I'm very happy with the course.
