The Branding Masterclass The Entire Brand Design Process (Udemy.com)

Sketching, Graphic Design, Logo Design, Brand Voice, Color & Typographic Systems, Portfolio and Client Presentations

Created by: Lindsay Marsh

Last updated April 2023

Our take

Based on the ratings of 5,665 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in April 2023. No course pays to be reviewed.

This is a start-to-finish walk through one branding project: a sushi restaurant and delivery service that Lindsay Marsh takes from client brief and research through sketching, logo, type, color, brand voice, a client presentation and a Behance case study. It runs 8.5 hours over 56 lectures and comes with a 50-page brand design guide. It suits working graphic designers who can already get around Photoshop and Illustrator and want to sell full brand packages rather than one-off logos.

Reviewers like Marsh's teaching. Her explanations are described as clear and digestible, and two reviewers say the research phase, the part that often gets skipped, was the most useful section. The rating split backs that up: about 70 percent of the 5,663 reviews are five stars and only 40 sit at one or two. The complaints are about depth, not quality. One four-star reviewer wanted more on choosing typefaces and color palette ratios, and another asked for lessons on fitting AI tools into the workflow. Brand voice and photography rules get one lecture each.

The last update was April 2023, so nothing here reflects the AI tools now common in design work, and the software steps assume the Adobe basics are already in place. The other titles in this category lean toward personal branding and strategy; this one opens Illustrator and builds the brand, which makes it the pick for designers rather than marketers. For anyone who wants a portfolio-ready case study and a repeatable process, it is a good buy. Anyone after strategy theory with no Illustrator time should look at the strategy course next to it.

Best forGraphic designers who know Photoshop and Illustrator basics and want to sell full brand packages, not just logos.
Skip it ifYou want brand strategy or personal branding theory and have no plans to open Illustrator.

Pros

  • Follows one real project, a sushi restaurant, from brief to client presentation and Behance case study
  • Reviewers single out the research section as the part that changed how they work
  • Comes with a 50-page downloadable brand design guide covering the whole class
  • Explanations described as clear and digestible; about 70 percent of 5,663 reviews are five stars

Cons

  • Last updated April 2023, so no coverage of AI tools in the branding workflow
  • Typeface choice and color palette ratios get less depth than some reviewers wanted
  • Assumes working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator; no software basics taught
Very knowledgable and easy to follow. Keeps me engaged and interested in learning more. Her explanations are very digestible.
Ceyaira Burton, a student

Intermediate is right: not a software course, so bring Photoshop and Illustrator basics, but no branding experience is needed.

A lot of things I have been rushing as a designer, when in fact I should be taking time for like knowing who the customer is, who they cater to, who is their target market, how is this scalable and how it should stand out against their competitors not just in the area but across other industries

By Krystal Camprubi on 3/27/2026

D'habitude, je note les cours à la fin... mais là, je suis tellement captivée par la qualité de la présentation, que je n'hésite pas à poser les 5 étoiles d'ores et déjà...

This course is absolutely amazing. I’ve learned more here than I ever did from YouTube or other platforms. I’m genuinely happy I decided to invest in it. It dives deep into every aspect of brand identity and logo design with clear, detailed explanations. I highly recommend it to anyone serious about improving their skills.

I love the way Lindsay takes time to really explain the topics in detail, like the personae and the brand guide. This is one of the few courses that is really detailed about branding. it was great!

By Miss Lima Khatun on 11/29/2025

I really enjoyed taking this course. The topics were clear, well-structured, and matched exactly what I was hoping to learn. The lessons felt practical, and I could immediately connect them with real projects I work on. Overall, it was a very good match for me and helped me understand the subject much better.

Why did you use a poster and business card designed for the Russian market (7:45 min)? Russia is a terrorist country! I tried to take a branding course, avoiding any Russian roots, but unfortunately, it didn't work out.

By Shagun Solenkey on 11/16/2025

Absolutely loved this course, from beginning to end. It is detailed and very well researched. I really appreciated the brand case studies. This is also great for reference, as someone who's just starting out, just to come back here and see the process, step by step.
