course presumes you have basic knowledge of node. does not explain where to find documentation and doe not explain installation process

This course is a good intro to node.js and is a great place for someone to start learning node. Might give this 5 stars instead of 4 after I complete the next class, Advanced Node.js Development.

The course has good information, but, as of early January 2015, the videos are kind of out of order.

As you are pursuing the course, you'll find unexplained leaps in the topic at hand where work has been done or concepts are being discussed (for instance, the video on gitignore being in section 3 whereas you don't setup the folder structure he's using until after video 2 in section 4, and the Jade video seem out of sequence (section 5) too, since this structure already exists in section 4).

Also on the Jade section, by the time you watch this video, since the Express videos come before this section, to actually do what the author recommends in the Jade video would break what you've done previously, since the Express version of the app.js is setup totally different. Kind of a PITA. So, I have to simply watch the Jade video, vs. following along.

It's worth the price of admission for some I suppose, but I really recommend that the instructor do some live user testing, sit with people pursuing the course for the first time, take notes on where they are confused, and rerecord the course videos. Plus, it looks dated to see anything but Yosemite anymore. Perhaps this is nitpicking...

Also, a "whole course" is a long way to go to only have constructed something that, at the end of the course, only outputs 'Hello World'. At the end of the course, the 'app' you build does literally not. one. thing. more. Read that again.

Yes, you push to Heroku in the course, but is that really more important for an Intro course than the app doing *anything*?

I really don't mean to be overcritical here, because I think the author's heart is in the right place on this series, but I'm pretty underwhelmed. If the author would like to contact me after making changes to the course, I'd be happy to update my review.

Very basic introduction, that can be quickly viewed in a short period of time. Best probably for someone who wants just a little knowledge of what Node is about and whether it might be something they want to learn more about.

The instructor jumps between projects, some stuff suddenly is just there and never explained. All in all it seems as if the videos in this course have been taken from a more comprehensive course and just been shuffled together.
