Let me help you land your first job in IT. Learn about different roles, procedures, tools, and applications - Part 1

Our take

Based on the ratings of 2,244 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in March 2025. No course pays to be reviewed.

This is a quick overview of what a first week on an IT service desk looks like, not a configuration tutorial. It runs 3.8 hours across 37 lectures and 11 sections, and Marious Kuriata frames it as a simulation: tickets in Jira Service Desk, Confluence, a Microsoft Exchange account, then fast passes through operating systems, Office 365, networks and ITIL terms. The description is blunt that some basic IT knowledge is expected, despite the beginner label. About 6,200 students have enrolled.

Reviews are warm. Of 2,244 ratings, 1,241 are five stars and 738 are four stars. Students call it clear, well structured and a good refresher, and a few say it helped before an internship or a new service desk job. Reviewers say the teaching is easy to follow. The complaints are consistent, though. Some videos feel dated, and one reviewer calls the Windows 10 material outdated. Others wanted labs, more everyday ticket troubleshooting, and a Group Policy lab. One low rating called the pretend student dialogue confusing and the flow jumpy.

The last update was March 2025, so expect some older screens. Treat it as orientation, not a skill builder. It's a fast way to pick up the vocabulary and rhythm of the job, and a second part covers cloud, virtualization and monitoring for later. Anyone who needs real practice should pair it with a home lab or a certification course.

Best forPeople who already know basic IT and want a preview of daily service desk work before an interview or first day.
Skip it ifYou want hands-on labs, deep troubleshooting practice, or current, up-to-date Windows walkthroughs.

Pros

  • Simulates a real first week using Jira Service Desk tickets and Confluence
  • At 3.8 hours it works as a quick refresher before an interview or a first day
  • Reviewers find the instructor clear and the sections well structured
  • Ends with a quiz built from the top 30 technical interview questions

Cons

  • Some videos are dated, and a reviewer calls the Windows 10 material outdated
  • No labs or hands-on practice; reviewers want more daily ticket troubleshooting
  • Overview depth only, and the pretend-student dialogue confused at least one reviewer
Good refresher course. All topics were delivered in a beginner-friendly manner and covers most IT Service Desk knowledge.
Jan Michelangelo Lituañas, a student

Labeled beginner, but it assumes basic IT skills, so true newcomers may need a primer first.

The course was well-structured and clearly delivered, offering a good balance of theory and practical examples. The instructor explained concepts in an accessible way, and the exercises reinforced learning effectively. Overall, a valuable learning experience that broadened my knowledge and skills in the subject.

I took this course because I just received an offer letter to work as a service desk engineer and my first day is in 4 days, so I wanted to refresh many concepts and also to know what a service desk engineer normally do every day at work. The course is really nice because it gaves me good enough information about what a service desk engineer can expect on the first days of work and common situations that would face at work. the teachers explains very good the topics, he is great, but i am not giving 5 stars because at the end, I think, the GPO lab was missing, and it would be nice to have more incidents related to active directory and GPO. other than that great course if you looking for something fast so you won't be in blank in your first day as a service desk engineer.

I really like this course I'm a beginner and I have little to no knowledge of IT but your course made it easy to understand without overwhelming me with information. I am excited to keep learning since this course has really helped me piqued my interest more.

By Mohamed Chakib Dellali on 12/6/2022

The course is really good however it could be much better, if you could probably make the student recreate the lab scenarios since Jira ticketing System has a free trial, also you could go more into troubleshooting scenarios in my opinion

Are you looking to start a new career in IT support? Check out this course. Marious uses real life examples and quizzes as a foundation to kickstart a service desk career. In addition, Marious sense of humour is pure entertainment. As a result, I was offered my first job trial in IT support. Thank you Marious, I am looking forward to doing part 2 of this course too. Highly recommended.

Wonderful course. Tomorrow I will be signing an offer for an IT support role in a multinational company, It’s an entry-level job for me and I really don’t know how the job is going to be like. However this course has instilled more confidence in me. Thank you Sir!

By M Su on 9/30/2021

Really appreciated that some real life ticket cases have been provided through each topic. That's actually why I choose this course over the others. However, I feel that there can be more content added in the course, for instance, printers, office 365 administration, troubleshooting...

By Stephan Dietrich on 9/15/2021

This course gives a great review of what you can expect from an help desk entry position in IT. I've learned a lot of basics about tools, workflows and so on. It's not bad to have heard about some things when it comes to an interview.

By Charles Anikpe on 8/15/2021

I purchased this course as I have an upcoming IT Services Support Specialist job coming up and I realised that a good part of the course corresponds to the job description therefore I believe it's a great tool for first line interview prep. Although, if you're going to interviewing for a more technical role, for instance an IT role that states either technical or engineer, you may want to couple this course with Mike Meyers CompTIA A+

By Martin Moiba on 4/22/2020

Great refreshing course on basically everything IT support. I love the real scenarios used. Pretty much a bit of everything from ticketing systems to ITIL and Job interview tips. I would definitely recommend for a starter and as a refreshing course as well.
