This is a very short Java starter from Luke's Programming School. It has 41 lectures in nine sections and about 1.8 hours of video, covering variables, conditions, arrays and loops, functions, a small projects section and a half hour of object oriented programming. Around 44,000 students have enrolled. It is pitched at people who have never coded, but reviewers split on that: some found it a clean first step, others say it fits a refresher better than a true first lesson.

Students who liked it call it well structured, simple and to the point, with sensible examples and a teacher who knows the material. The complaints are consistent. Explanations are thin, one reviewer says he mostly narrates what is on screen, and another says things are introduced without being explained. A few mention his English or flat delivery, and one says the quizzes need to be harder. Another reviewer wanted the last lecture covered in more detail. One reviewer says the NetBeans videos have drifted from the current software.

Yes, however, I think video 5 and 6 should be updated, especially 6, because netbeans has changed a little.

Broken english is very distracting even for a non native english speaker. The last lecture shiould either be part of a more complex Java ciourse or delved into in greater detail. Would rate this course 2/5 but added a star since I picked it up for free.

This is a good course for complete beginners in programming. If you have some programming experience only part of it is useful. If you have some object-oriented programming experience and want to start with Java, better choose other training. The course itself is good, nice explanation and examples, but - as the title says - it is a course for VERY BEGINNERS.

Hi, Course is really good. But I felt last two sections constructors and inheritance concept could be taught in multiple videos since those were very important. Apart from that Can you please include more questions in the exercise section including more short programs.

this course is a good startup for any beginner. But as a beginner we need some more exercise and more real life examples which makes the subject far more interactive. The course instructor is awesome. He might have some weakness in English but i would say he did a pretty good job. Best of luck Sir..
