Course Description

Java 8 brought a lot great new features to the table. A lot people say, the community was late in bringing these features, but what often people dont realise is that brought these new features late but what they did exceptionally well was to implement them better than anyone and give us developers a wonder API to use, and one of the them was the Stream API.

Before Java we wrote a lot code for simple logic and yet we could get it wrong very easily. Well this is not the case with Java 8 in particulate with Streams. With Streams we focus on coding and deliver what we indent rather than thinking of how we are going to code the logic to do what we intend. Streams focuses on the ALL instead of the PARTS. Streams not only focuses on the ALL but it also allows us to write functional style programming, and this is what makes Streams and the  Java programming language very attractive to developers.

This course is packed with awesome sections that will take you the journey from from zero to hero. You will learn and understand what I call the

concrete > abstraction > concrete phase

and once you grasp this concept we will dive into the abstraction phase and learn awesome features such as

  • Map
  • Filter
  • Flatmap
  • Reduce
  • Average
  • Sum
  • Min
  • Difference between intermediate & terminal operations
  • And much more

Finally at the end of this course I will teach how streams work internally, their order of execution and the performance benefits they have to offer.

The best way to learn any concept is to learn and practice as you go along. So, I packed this course with plenty of exercise for you to challenge your to ensure you learn and start using functional programming with stream moving forward in you career as a Java software engineer.

I cant wait to see you inside.

This is the first time I understood Streams properly and keep to retain it in my memory. What I like about this course is - the refactoring approach to changing the existing code to streams. With less burden on my mind and more using refactoring - I understood how to turn the imperative code to streams without much difficulty. I also have practiced a lot of programs on my end which I will push to my github.com/premvinodh soon. The way I approached this is 1. Refactor imperative code to IntStreams 2.Refactor imperative code to IntStreams but also use mapToObj 3. Refactor imperative code to streams The above approach was more step by step addition to my knowledge. Thanks a lot Nelson Jamal and Happy Learning To All !!!!

Explained the concepts really good. Able to understand it. As this course is fully dedicated to Streams, if you could cover some of the additional overloaded methods in Streams, Collectors and intermediate that will be really great

I should Have given 5* for the way he taught and explained. I have 2.5* because he dint cover parallel stream at all. Also in a small video he should explained when to use Function, Predicate, Producer ,Consumer, BiConsumer etc. I will change my rating if he add these lectures to help students.

It was a nice experience learning such useful and productive techniques that we could use to reduce the Line of Code and design the code in much understandable way. Thanks for your efforts.

Loved the content and way of teaching. Please provide more exercises with questions. It will help in understanding when and how to use stream in real time projects and will also helps in achieving hand-on experience of same.

I think this was an amazing course. Great examples of streams. However, this is just me but the method references examples confused me a little since I am not polished on how these work yet.

Thought it was a good course because it went right away into using streams from the Collections framework. Many of the books and tutorials I've read spend way too much time on Integer and Array sources.

Explanation and the way of teaching is very good and its very short. What is lacking in this course is, i think most of students would like know how its works behind and what is the benefit(utilisation of resource especially in multi-core machines) of using functional programming over oop. Anyway its a very good job he done in this two hours. Thank You very much Nelson.

I've took some courses here in Udemy and other online uni's, and this one is by far one of the best and most professional course i got: - It has a "straight to the point" attitude (much like streams and the functional coding style :-) ) - Each lecture is short and focuses the essence of coding. - It is quickly understandable how the structure is to be used, and what the logic behind it is. - The instructor invested wisely in supplying a downloadable setup or framework for running through the lectures and to be imported into IDE, including dependencies (like assert4j), which streamlines perfectly the study, so the student doesn't have to waste time on the perimeter and be able to focus what's matter. In addition, the instructor teaches along the way some intelliJ tricks which can really be helpful in day-to-day coding. 2 Small suggestions: First, I would add some MORE exercises which are applicable to real world issues, otherwise it might stay too theoretical and less practical. 2. Regarding the last section, where the instructor explain the logic behind streams, the instructor's explanation sounds a bit less sharp here. A bit of re-phrasing would do good there. Highly recommended!!!

Great teaching skills!!! During this lectures the teacher was precise on his information, giving us exactly what we need for each lecture. I highly recommend this course for whoever needs to learn about streams. I am confident that this information will be valuable for applying on my day to day work.

Very helpful to understand what Java Stream is

This will definitely make programming easy.
