Course Description

Today the technology sector is experiencing a boom throughout the world. There are hundreds of startups launching every day.  In order to move fast - these startups need people who are skilled at automating as much as possible. Mostly progressive startups - favor implementing completely automated DevOps pipelines from the get go.  They realize that these practices of continuous integration (CI) and DevOps will yield tremendous benefits regarding speed and agility. The demand for these skills has been steadily rising over the last few years.

Jenkins is an award-winning open source toolset which enables us to build very sophisticated automated build pipelines very quickly. It has extensive community support which has augmented the core functionality of Jenkins by building and sharing hundreds of very useful plugins. Implementing continuous integration with Jenkins can help us immensely in reducing the risk within our software development lifecycle. It catches us bugs early and increases the quality of our software products. This, in turn, reduces the overall cost to develop innovative software in any environment - startups and enterprise alike.

The demand for professionals who have experience with these tools has been growing steadily over the last few years. The salaries and consulting rates for these skills have also been rising and are only bound to go up as the demand for these skills remains steady or increases.

In this course we will:

  • Learn about CI and why it is important
  • Learn about Jenkins
  • Build an automated CI pipeline with Jenkins
  • Learn how to version control and manage relational database schema
  • Run the CI pipeline to maintain build artifacts
  • Learn how to configure, secure and extend Jenkins
  • Learn how to configure automated build notifications
  • Integrate CI builds with Git repositories hosted in GitHub

Great explained....i have implemented almost all the features shown in the video and they working like charm. It would be great if you could explain difference between Freestyle and Pipleline projects with simple example.Rest all great...keep it up.

This course is a very useful intro to Jenkins BUT needs updating - dot net core mvc would be VERY useful as this uses a more standard set of work flow tools. Ditto an Angular(5) version. The SQL Server database versioning tool ROUNDHOUSE is not well known, though it is useful as a foil to all the code first-ers. My main issue is with the VERY short lectures AND the endless & time-wasting pauses between lectures. I am really very tired of watching the logo appear 64 million times.

It good and simple to understand, but it would be good, if you can provide resources / links for the pro user to explore more about the topic. E.g. I was going to adding slave topic, where there was launch setting. I link article / wiki to explain other launch setting, pros / con, use case for each one of it would be great.

This is a great introductory course on Jenkins. The content is very well organized and relevant. The instructor is very knowledgeable. It is very easy to follow the examples that are presented on the deep-dive sections. The only reason I do not give it a 5 stars rating is that the repo examples require tweaks so that the builds work properly on your local PC. While this is expected, the instructor rarely highlights it or provide tips on how to tweak build files and configuration files so that they work on your specific environment. My recommendation is to fork the examples repositories into your Github repo and check-in the tweaks there instead of cloning to your local so you can actually see how well the Jenkins Git plugin integrate with the Cloud based repo services such as GitHub or GitLab. I do recommend this course an as excellent quickstart on Jenkins.

This is a cursory introduction to Jenkins which assumes a very specific component environment. If your development environment matches the ones used here (Windows, SQL Server, Maven, Roundhouse, Nexus Repository Manager), then this course will provide a nice intro to jenkins. If not, then then it is not as useful since the instructor uses examples for setting up a Jenkins module. You may have to download a lot of 3rd party software to get the best benefit of this course. As I am running on Linux, I didn't have the time or the interest to mess with all these other components. The Jenkins overview was OK but not terribly in-depth.

Thanks for another great course. This course not just explain about how to set up jenkins as CI but also make sure to set up the detail, like security. And two example to set up jenkins on java and .net. The instructor also explain it brief and simple and he also not forget to zoom in so the text can be read easily.

its pretty good course to learn with plenty of examples. The instructor does provide some good explanation of the concepts with the examples as well. SIMPLY Great course. I had bought some other courses. But was not satisfied with the content. The mentor is awesome and has covered topics in depth. He is the one the best teacher I have ever seen. Thank you Manuj Aggarwal for such a wonderful course.

I like that course very much. Thanks for it! One thing why I reduced my rating from 5 to 4,5 is, that sometimes (mainly in the Java part of the course - I skipped the .NET part where this might be similar) the motion between different parts of the screen has been too fast. It's a good idea to show only parts of the screen to get a better skaling, but doing so I found it sometimes difficult to remember where we actually were. I'd prefer to see the whole screen or - if this is not sufficient - to have slower movements.

This course is not suitable for those who has Linux Background. As the Instructor explained Java Project using Sql server as an example. It would be great if he has taken some linux examples. Also the course content is very minimal . Instructor could have taken some complex project and explained for Linux background people. As an Individual I did not find course helpful for .

By Claudio Pallone on 6/17/2016

The instructor is really knowledgeable and the material is really good. I wish he had covered the small details as well. Maybe he could create a new course where he teaches us how to use all the modules to implement CI for example RoundHouse, NAnt, Security etc..
