Learn Apache Cassandra from Scratch (Udemy.com)

The material is dated. It was probably very good when it was released and I have no issue with the instructor. The downloaded software required, OpsWorks, only works with the enterprise/commercial version of Cassandra. There were other items that were out of date and I was able to work through them. I am not buying a very expensive software package to continue however.

It's generally a good course but it could use lots of polishing. The instructor's use of English is sometimes slangy and incorrect; he says things like: ‘nothing should have went in’, ‘if everything goes good’; apostrophes are used incorrectly 'it's' vs 'its', etc. There are also multiple errors in lectures and the lecturer for instance should have previously prepared correct CQL statements to execute in order for viewers to proceed without having to wait for typing errors to be corrected. Similarly with errors in JS and views. Some debugging is good, but I think there were too many of these and the viewer spends too much time waiting for corrections.

Focus on Cassandra wasn't enough, instructor focused a lot on nodejs in the latest chapters. For Cassandra chapters the instructor was just reading word by word his own slides, no explanation, detailing or examples while reading. We could've read the slides ourselves, no need for a video of someone reading slides.

Very good introduction to Cassendra with a lot of details explained very well. It blew my mind with the information in this course. The videos are topic specific and takes you deep in Cassandra's world. I will definitely recommend the course if you really want to learn or to know about Cassandra.
