Course Description
In this course you will learn how to create a simple C# application using Microsoft Visual Studio that creates and connects to an SQL Database with the Entity Framework*, with no database development required!
We will use Code First development principals to define all database tables and columns using only C# code.
All database tables and columns will be generated automatically from the C# code without the need to edit the database directly. As such we will be doing no database development (except for a section on calling SQL statements directly if you need to).
All source code is included as a Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 project so you can get up and running straight away.
Thank you for choosing this course and we look forward to viewing your positive reviews and feedback.

The course is fine if you want to do the nessesary research on how to implement a database if one does not exisit. This is 2020 not 2013 so i had to go back to a Microsoft archive to get a 2013 Visual Studio so I could follow along. Then after researching I install SQL Express. Then after the install I had to do the work to create the App.config . Mine turned out to be: Then test it with the Nuget package untill you get it right. In all this cost me hours. This course must be revisited to bring it upto date or you should not charge for it.

The course was very good. Even though I am using VS 2017 and EF 6.2.0 I had very few problems building the app and having it work. There were a couple of places where a "using" statement was added by the instructor without saying anything about the addition. If you were attempting to build the project at the same time as the video, you could miss the addition. Other than that, the videos were "Spot On" as one might say.

A pretty good course; one of the better ones I've seen so far. It's easy to follow and can be understood up to about 1.5x playback speed. There were a few issues I had that the instructor glazed over, specifically dealing with some file structure with databases and what could cause issues for a new developer. No one seems to talk about how to clean up databases, tables or migrations as a new developer will make some mistakes, miss things and may even have a couple of early tutorial tables in the way causing confusion. I had to get outside help on a couple of things but I guess that's normal with development in this field. I had to stop trying to follow along as some of the features didn't always work in the later parts but stick with it. Pay attention and use your playback controls because this course will help with a lot. Worth the purchase. Worth coming back to for reference.

I have had experience in this topic a long time ago and I was looking for a refresher as well as to learn anything new in the topic. This presentation is excellent. It starts from the absolute beginning, carefully covers the material in depth, and points you to where more information can be found. I did indeed learn a lot that I hadn't known before and things that have been added to Entity Frameworks ORM. I strongly recommend this course.

This was a very enjoyable course. I didn't give 5-stars for the reason that it was in my personal opinion a bit too quick, and that at the very end, a bit of code was not actually used in the application. Overall, I do recommend this course quite highly and I did learn from it. I also know that because it was a bit quick, I do have the course to reference again later, which I undoubtedly will find myself doing in the near future. Great course, worth the fair price.

The course overall has been fantastic with a great basic introduction to using entity framework with a realistic basic scenario. The only small problem I have so far is it seems more aimed towards someone with more C# knowledge than myself as a lot of things are only briefly glossed over without me fully understanding why things are done a certain way. Overall I am still very pleased with the course though. Thanks a lot!

This is a crystal clear tutorial that is very easy to follow along with and the presenter style is engaging and entertaining! I would recommend even to those who want to quickly master using EntityFramework (which is a HUGE time saver when it is implemented correctly). The instructor is very knowledgeable about EntityFramework and updated the video to include changes from a version released after the initial course was created.... I would rate it higher than 5 stars if possible - 6 out of 5.

The content gave a good overview and touched on all the important points. It was presumed that I have more knowledge that I actually did. It could have been my lack of breadth. The sound quality was somewhat lacking but for the most part acceptable. A couple of videos had loud interference that made it difficult to concentrate. Matt was an excellent instructor. His dialog flowed nicely. He was very knowledgeable on the subject. I would like to see more by him.

The author is very consistent and throw. He goes through every step of creating a Windows Form for a demo Sales Application where he uses Entity Frameworks for binding form elements to data and use CRUD operations to manage the data - all from C#. I'd like to see more web related examples and possibly a deep-dive section into doing more complex SQL integrations (with Stored Procedures), or possibly using DbContext for non-relational databases like MongoDB and DocumentDB (Azure). I'd also like to see how Entity Frameworks handles pagination. Another 'nice to have' section would be an inner view into the inner workings of EF. I'd like to see what queries are ultimately sent to SQL as a Pro/Con comparison to custom SQL/Procs. All in all, it's a good course. Thank You!

Amazing! I can say without equivocation that this is the best course I’ve ever had the pleasure of attending. It is so well-thought out, concise and pertinent, that it is hard to explain just how much different this course is from too many others of the ilk. What sets this course apart is that so much thought obviously has been put into the curriculum. Thus, the student is taken on a journey which progresses an example scenario from humble beginnings to a complete solution, thereby introducing the student to many of the underpinning concepts in Entity Framework. Having completed this course, most students will be ready to code Entity Framework in the real world. Well done Matt; this is an outstanding piece of work.
