This course goes step by step through the basics of each technology, and then gradually shows you how to build the necessary components and underlying framework of your site. It goes through installation of PHP and MySQL technologies on your local machine as well as hosted servers, explains basic tags, commands and constructs, and helps you build and work within a solid back-end database. One you have the basics of PHP and MySQL covered, you'll also learn how to use CSS, JavaScript and AJAX to create the visual style and added functionality your pages deserve.

I'm so grateful I've found this cours. I've been watching other courses, and the clarity the things are explained with, is empressive. The structure is logical, helps to really introduce a person into a new language. Unlike other courses which just go through content without letting you see and understand the whole picture. You always now know why you are doing this, without waiting untill it gets clear somewhere afterwards. And they don't even mention the name of a teacher in the description of a course, just the name of a school.

Well designed by small duration lectures covering a specific topic each time. Very good approach with the assignments at the end of each chapter by practising and testing what everyone learns up to that point. Absolutely satisfied. Thank you.

Yes, it's great!! Greatr intro to a lot of basic programming concepts, SQL and PHP. Basic intro to JS. Bit old in parts and not updated (a number of the functions are deprecated) but overall very easy to follow and highly recommended.

It was a pretty good course, and it covered a lot of topics. The one problem that I had was the assignments having code that was not mentioned in the previous lessons. It's also a different way than I have done it in the past where there are a bunch of lessons, and then a big assignment. Overall, it was a good course, and taught what it advertised.

I got a lot out of this course. It is quite dated but covers the basics very well. SQL was covered very well also. I found a lot of relative pathing errors in the supplied code, even when we moved to subfolders. A lot of mysql_xxxx statements had to be updated to mysqli_xxxx because I am on PHP 7 and not 4 or 5. Once I made these changes, I was able to get all the later assignments working perfectly. But be warned that no one is answering questions.

Overall the instructor is quite good, he explains things well, and so on. The course was better than many I have taken here on Udemy. There are a few lessons that don't feel complete, however. Most specifically: The course does not get into editing existing data at all, and honestly this is part of why I want to use Ajax -- to update the data on the screen without refreshing the page, to navigate through data (next record, previous record, etc.) without refreshing the whole page, etc. This wasn't covered. It would have been nice, and made the class feel more complete.

This course is alright I guess. The guy obviously knows his stuff, but his presentation style is a little boring. Also, the course is big on copy and pasting, it doesn't have very many exercises, it feels mostly like the instructor walking you through programs he has written.

I have taken a lot of online courses, in this topic and others. Simply put - this is certainly the best beginner web development course I have taken...whatever you pay for it, it is well worth the money. Over 100 individual lectures that build upon each other and a walk-through web site build that you code on your own, then watch the instructor's solution.

By Leonardo Banderali on 7/17/2014

In this course, you won't learn to make a pretty website but you will learn all the fundamental principles of dynamic web design. The videos are a bit dull but they cover everything you need to know to get started with php, mySQL, and AJAX.

PHP and MySQL are languages that I have been studying at college for about six months now. I got very frustrated with myself because I could not understand the logic of it, I couldn't get my programs to work, and I couldn't debug a thing! Asking the lecturer questions didn't seen to help my progress or understanding at all. Six months this was going on for... In the first seven days of taking this Udemy course, I have a solid understanding of all the basic functions, rules, and things I never even got told at college! I can't believe how much difference it made to my logical thinking just by having Steve Perry as my lecturer. He is thorough on all the basic stuff, introduces and walks you through a lot of advanced stuff, and on top of that, he also mentions things to take into account/tips and tricks to remember... which is very important to me. For someone who knows nothing about these languages, it makes it difficult to ask questions when you aren't certain of what you're asking - it's much simpler for the lecturer to lay everything out on the table and let you pick up what you want! Which is exactly what Steve does in this course (although, in a very organised and structured way, making it very easy to follow). I recommend this course anyone who has limited knowledge (or no knowledge!) about PHP and MySQL but wants to learn more, or even someone who just needs to understand the logical side of programming and ways for them to get their head around the processes/writing easily.
