1. Boring 2. Too many details on topics that are very specific and could've been skipped but not be a part of the main course

By Thu Kha Kyawe on 6/1/2025

This course is a fantastic resource for anyone looking to build a solid foundation in Linux system administration. Andrei Dumitrescu does a great job of explaining concepts clearly, with just the right balance of theory and hands-on practice. The course covers a wide range of topics — from basic commands and shell scripting to user management, permissions, networking, and system troubleshooting. Each section builds on the last, making it easy to follow even if you're new to Linux. The real strength of this course lies in its clarity, structure, and practical demonstrations. The labs and exercises are very helpful in reinforcing what you’ve learned, and Andrei’s teaching style is calm, clear, and easy to understand. Highly recommended for beginners, aspiring sysadmins, or anyone preparing for a Linux certification or job in IT!

Considering that, in the past, i took part in an on-site Linux Administration 6 months course, i didn't thought that an online bootcamp could teach me all the fundamentals & in-depth aspects of this OS. I got it all wrong! Andrei Dumitrescu's course reaches almost all necessary commands and gives valuable insights into learning Linux from 0 to an intermediate level. There were times when i got stuck and asked the QA section and in a maximum of 48hrs the instructor responded firmly. As a short mention, there were some chapters when maybe the curriculum wasn't updated to the latest available info or a specific technology/version. But didn't hindered my learning process. Looking forward to do some other courses from Andrei. A great, well-paced instructor with a lot of knowledges related to system administration.

I have followed other courses (plenty of them) however i can only remember two people who spoke in a way that it kept everything interesting, everything that was said was received and it sounded pleasant to listen. The person behind this course is one of them. I will definitely go for other courses of his if he has them available. Not to forget, the guy is very knowledgeable. I have been working with linux machines for my job but never actually did any training, just learned at the job. However, everything comes together now :)

I have been self teaching on parrot os mostlu. My goal is to one day become an ethical hacker but to do that I need to know Linux and networking inside and out. I also hope to pick up some certifications on the way and get an IT job as an assistant administrator or star a business in data storage. Eventually I will learn enough to start taking bug bouties on the side and I'll just go from there until I meet my goal.

This is a very comprehensive course. A bit tedious and laborious at times, but nonetheless very educational. If I were allowed to have a few suggestions: 1) Linux file systems. Yes, there are almost 4 hours worth of lectures on different file management related commands, which is very good and very useful. Nonetheless a bit more technical topics such as working with device files, creating and management of partitions, ins and outs of the most popular file systems (such as ext4) were only touched upon. 2) Networking. A lot of attentions was given to various tools that are used to manage and monitor networks. And, no doubt, these tools are essential. But there are no lectures explaining how to design and set up a simple, yet realistic network, how to configure servers and network devices, how to manage shared devices. I know that it goes a bit beyond administration of a "single server", but such knowledge is necessary to be able to perform Linux administration duties.

By Pavel Milyaev on 3/30/2023

The course delves into a diverse range of topics and offers plenty of opportunities for hands-on practice. These practical exercises have significantly enhanced my understanding of the concepts presented in the lectures. Additionally, while the course covers a wide array of topics, I did notice that some important concepts such as "awk", "sed", and "xargs" were not covered in detail. Nonetheless, overall, I found the course to be highly beneficial in advancing my Linux skills.

By David Sygut on 10/10/2022

The course was pretty good at covering a wide variety of concepts for beginners, but I think it would be much better if it went deeper into some very important topics such as ssh public key authentication (explanations of the ssh-* commands i.e. ssh-add, ssh-agent, etc) and managing repositories (adding/removing PPAs, etc). Also I think it really should include LVM and volume encryption/decryption to be complete. I have to admit, as a native English speaker, sometimes I struggled to interpret certain words spoken by Andrei (the teacher) and had to rewind the video one or more times to figure out which words he was saying. By the end of the course I had mostly adjusted to his accent, but I had trouble if I set the playback speed higher than 1.5x. He does explain the topics of the course well though. Overall, considering the value of the large amount of content in this course I am happy with it.

By Nour Saad on 6/21/2022

Great Course covers great amount on Linux OS I would recommend to add command sheet in extra section like in the previous ones. Also I have faced a major problem with caption in extras section only, they should be re-edited I understand that Andrei isn't a native English speaker but there were very little spelling mistake but he's English is very good and wouldn't be a problem for taking the course. Finally the pace of speaking is very slow, I understand that not all how are taking the course have a background in CS so speaking slowly is better for them to understand but for me I was taking the course at higher playing speed. That's all my feedback I recommend taking this course for any one how is welling to expend his knowledge in Linux OS Great Job Andrei and keep adding and improving the course Best Regards

This is definitely a good course. The teacher speaks simple English (good for those who don't speak English well), although with a peculiar accent that takes some getting used to. Most of all I liked the section about Bash, there are a lot of examples and practice. Another very good section is about Firewall. In the remaining sections, the lecturer talks about basic things in simple language, although sometimes it happens that the lecturer is difficult to understand (you need to listen to several sentences more than once). The section "Networking on Linux" is not suitable for those who want to get basic knowledge about networks and their protocols (the author does not talk about this). All in all, this is a good course to get a good basic knowledge of Linux. Thank you Andrei!
