Course Description

In this course, we will go through the process of creating an Animated short film.
We will start of with how I find inspiration in every day activities, and how to evolve a story so that it will be interesting. From here we will record the reference footage which will be our story board. We will then go into ways of finding locations to tell the story. Next we will focus on sourcing 3D characters and assetsfrom different applications and sources to find the one that suits you. Unfortunately due to licensing, Iam able not able to provide that character that is in the example animation. Next we will focus on modeling and texturing the environment. I will go through the basics so that you will get a greater understanding of how to use the 3D application Blender. Once the environmentis created, we will then go through the process of creating the actual animation. Here Iwill show you tips that Iuse to create the best possible animation with what ever skill level you have. Once we have decided that the animation is as complete, we will go through critiquing and the final polish. We will add sound for the final touch and our short film will come alive.
By the end, we will have a completed short film that can be shown at film festivals.
Who this course is for:
Those who love animationThose who have limited time and want to be creative

I have currently been using Blender for three years with a focus on hard surface modelling and animation. Blender has appealed to me as my primary tool as there is such a strong community that follows it. There are always people to help, as well as people available to help.

I have a background in acting andcreating short films for over a decade. This is what made me change to a 3D artist. Iwanted to continue toworkwith film, but at my own pace.Working with film makers meant that Iwould need to revolve around their schedule, where as a 3D artist, I am able to go at my own pace and have more control over what Iproduce.

I am currently Married with two children under the age of 5, and Family is the most important thing to myself. This was another reason why become a 3D animator appealed to me as it would not interfere with family life.

Through out my life Ihave already achieve many of my goals that Ihave. At the moment my life goalis towork on a feature film one day and be able to tell people "I made that" and to be proud of what I have accomplished.

The course moves slowly but is very in depth. It gives a true sense of the time and methodical process involved in tweeking all the little bits to produce a realistic animation.

So Far...it's hard to follow what the instructor is doing. He doesn't explain at times what he's doing and you get to the point where you get lost at times on certain things, example on shortcuts he's using. Not everyone uses Windows and sometimes it get very confusing. It'll be nice if this shortcuts keys where mention (for the users who use Mac and not windows). There are also time where he makes mistakes and now "you" learner have to back track and try to catch up to what he's doing to correct the mistakes....very frustrating.

doesn't include character in project file

Good demonstration of using reference video.
For the content it is way too long. Showing mistakes and recovering is OK, could have edited out some mistakes. Doesn't mention actions or non-liner editing, asset management. To make the final video blender isn't even used two separate non-open source programs are used. Blender could have be used video edit and sound. Or at least Audacity which is also free.

Maybe I missed something, however it was difficult following along, because there was no resource files included.
