Course Description

Master course in big picture thinking (thinking like a CEO)

What's the big picture? How many times have you heard that? Or that you don't have a big picture? This phrase has been repeated too many times to count, and every time I hear it, I think to myself: what exactly is the big picture, and how do I get it?

There's no one size fits all when it comes to the big picture. You can't really have the big picture (serious emphasis on "big") because there are so many influence points involved. Everyone - even the leaders at the top - has trouble seeing the big picture when it comes to a big project, program, or issue.

You're only getting a glimpse of the big picture, even if it's just for a moment. It's gone as soon as you see it. Environment, circumstances, and people's interactions changed.

It's why you need to focus on how to get big picture thinking instead of getting the big picture.

Take a big picture look

Big-picture thinkers see there's more to the world than their own, and they try to get outside of themselves and see other people's worlds from their perspective. When you're inside the frame, you can't see the picture."

Thinking big is good

You need to frame the big picture to keep it from turning into a dream. It's easy to think that you don't know enough to properly frame, let alone determine, the big picture, depending on where you work.

I think this is why it's so important to cultivate the skill of big picture thinking. With the materials you already have, you can create your own big picture instead of feeling like you lack the material.

There are 5 major topics I want to cover in this master's course,

1. Introduction and importance of big picture thinking like a CEO

2. Big picture thinking qualities and benefits

3. Psychology, activities, and examples of big picture thinking

4. big picture thinking vs detail oriented and ceo skills and competencies

5. how to become a ceo of a company ? how to be a good ceo of a company

Thanks for this course. It has open my mind to the needs of my CEO which I will always put into perspective when I am preparing a meeting with him, and the things expected to succeed on my Job as an HR Business Partner.

By Michael Griner on 11/15/2023

I am studying to become a manager and a leader. Thank you for all of the information.

By Hardi Desai on 11/7/2023

No. It had no actionable advice, just a vague overview of what a CEO's role should be. wouldn't recommend to anyone.

By Fernando Olivares on 9/4/2023

No slides available for reference. The information presented by the professor is pretty bleak. No fundamentals. The professor just talked and talked without giving any information that you can't find in business articles or books. I wouldn't recommend this course.

It was very good . it enhanced my thinking ability also gave me so many points to include in my SOP & PS for my resume. Great experience.

There are some powerful concepts here, but I had to dig for them. The strong accent and less than great command of English made everything very difficult to follow. I have never had to use the transcript before but needed to in order to attempt to follow what was being said. And it was obvious reading the transcript that the communication was not clear. I don't know if it is possible to edit the transcript, but it showed - The word CEO was heard as seawolves and many other weird words. Even seeing what the computer thought he said didn't help sometimes. Having said that, the material is insightful and useful and the communication difficulties probably meant there was more I missed. The last lecture was less useful and full of stereotypes and generalizations such as "it is important to maintain culture and moral, and progress and innovation" Big distinction I think between big picture and cliches. Sure they are concepts, but the process is hidden

I have gained a lot on how to become a CEO of a company, and some of the Skills a CEO should have, as an ambitious Business and Information Technologists my main aim is to be a Chief Technology Officer(DTO) which at some point is in the level of CEO depending on the structure of organization.

By Daramy Alimamy Kabba on 4/7/2023

My experience was great as the course has opened my mind to pay attention to complexity and uncertainties in everyday life, business, and organization.

By Atrayah on 4/7/2023

The subject matter was important to me as I support two CEOs from different organisations. As an Executive Virtual Assistant, I found the topic informative and insightful.
