Teacher is okay but this series only for maya 2017 version. So Don't buy this Maya upper version user....

He teaches the course well, explaining all the settings and showing the effects of changing each. He also shows settings that are not used during the tutorial and gives a basic rundown what the setting effects. The major problem I had with this course though is that it's outdated. For example making the glass shader was a pain since none of the settings that he uses are in the current version (I was using Maya 2020 with Arnold 4.0.21 at the moment of writing this). I had to look up other tutorials using newer version of Arnold to get the glass to look correctly.

I am mainly self taught and I have been rendering with Arnold for quite a while now. I am embarrassed by how much I did not know about rendering with Arnold. The information Mr. Patel teaches is very well explained. He goes over all of the lighting and rendering settings very thoroughly using his own render to show you the effects and explains why they do what they do. I am very thankful for the classes he is offering and I would highly recommend this class to anyone who is interested in learning about lighting and rendering with Arnold. I would also take further classes with him in the future if available. I see that the instructor has also worked on animation, rigging and fx in his bio. I would be very interested to purchase them if instructed by him. :)

learned some new things, confidence built on previous knowledge, easy to follow. not too slow, not too fast. Great!

Very good in the early progress. Exampled very well on every button/iron/tools and show it how to use them also.. Great!!
The course is using Maya 2017, right now i using Maya 2019 and half way overall progressing the course, alot of things has changed between 2017 and 2019.
Example
They fix alot of bug on arnold rendering review stuff.
Insert the imageplane on the camera is not working for M2019 and i need to use mesh to create plane for BG.
Skin shader is no more in M2019 and it merge with standard surface shader
They remove reflecting/refraction option
Alot of new tools, options, shader to play with
For now those people using latest version make sure you have all the basic course cover or experience on maya so that u can solve some of the problem that the videos that you saw can be done but in M2019 u cannot and need other way solve it. Luckily i have tons of experience using maya since 2012 so most of stuff can be solve and counter the problem.
If those people still quite new on maya and want to go through this course in the fast speed, best way is to downgrade using Maya 2017 to complete the course.

The information in the tutorial is outdated with Maya 2018. There are New workflows and shaders in arnold as of Maya 2018.
