This is overall a good course. The author is quite knowledgeable and is able to convey the information in an understandable way. I had used M.S. Access previously but had not used it for a number of years. The author moved along fairly quickly, but of course I was able to back up the video to repeat concepts and features I didn't quite get the first time. Regardless of how well M.S. Access is taught, in my opinion, it is not an easy application to use.

I thought that it was good at explaining how to do things in a step by step guide however I didn't find the example of an address book useful because it didn't seem like an actual real life access database situation. I am struggling to fit this to how I would be able to use it in real life.

I am really enjoyed taking this course! Short explanation of all important sections of Access DB in an accessible manner of explanation by presenter helped me to understand the structure and basis of the operation of the Access DB. Also course can be taken at any convenient time and repeated if necessary. Thanks a lot! Aliya Bell

I started off knowing nothing about databases or access. Now I feel ready to build my giant amazing relational database for my project requirements :-) Super excited! Thank you so much! :-) The pacing was spot on. The titles are clear and relevant so I can always go back to specific videos for specific trouble shooting easily. Lovely pleasant narration.

I felt like I had a solid understanding of the basics at the end of this course. I was able to create a simple database application in MS Access after this course. A great course for beginners as he goes into excruciating detail about what every little thing does. I wish the examples were geared more towards enterprise or business needs.

Maybe it's just me but I'm finding the voiceover very tedious; not just monotone but sentences just don't flow like normal speech, he speaks with weird staccato breaks and strange emphasis, which distracts from the point being made. I'm also finding the structure difficult; it started extremely basic, i.e. how to open Access and then a trip around the menus before jumping straight in, but never is there a basic overview terms for instance, tables, queries, objects and forms, what they do and how they interact. It's a disappointing oversight. I'm putting the pieces of the jigsaw together, hoping I'll understand the big picture when I get there, but I would have rather had a glimpse of the box to see what I was aiming at.

Overall this was a very helpful course for diving into Microsoft Access 2010. Even if you are just starting out and have been playing around with the program, this provides you with an in-depth use of the basics. A few times I had some working files issues, but other than that I worked my way through it.

Thanks for this course; I was needing a course to ease me into the steep learning curve that Access presents, and this course certainly helped feel more confident about getting stuck in. It also has enough rich content to show the scope of whatAccess (2010) can do. What I particularly about the course it that it's divided into a lot of small lessons, none more than 10 minutes long, and all well-described in the course titles, so it will be easy to refer back to a particular detail if I find myself in difficulty in the future. The presentation is engaging, easy to listen too and thorough. I've now subscribed to the advanced course to understand the VBA.

This is a very thorough course. Not tedious or intimidating, just thorough. Access is something that you can't just watch and learn. You must download the working files and follow along. Also use the note taking function to reinforce the rules and tips you are given in this course to get the most out of it.

By Larry R. Woodard on 8/29/2013

The course lectures were thorough and the course material followed the lectures very well. The instructors heavy British accent made understanding the lectures a bit difficult but this problem was resolved by adding an equalizer to my computers sound system and I was able to adjust the instructors voice to a clearer state. Other than this the course was very good.
