Mixing & Mastering with Presonus Studio One (Udemy.com)

Taking this course made me realize something simple but powerful: mixing is a lot like cooking. You can follow a recipe step by step, but if you don’t understand why each step exists, you’ll struggle the moment something changes. The real skill comes from understanding the purpose behind every decision, not just repeating a process. In cooking, heat, timing, and ingredients interact in different ways depending on the context. Mixing works the same way — every track, every session, every artist brings a different scenario. Without a deeper understanding, you're just applying moves blindly. One thing I felt was missing in the course was the importance of having a clear sound reference. It’s not just about going through a process and hoping it sounds “good enough” by standard. It’s about shaping your decisions toward a defined sonic goal. A great mix shouldn’t come from habit or routine — it should come from intention. In the end, the course gives you tools, but it’s up to you to go beyond the steps and truly understand the craft.

I am terribly frustrated!! I really want to take this course but half of the segments show nothing at all!! They don't boot up nor do they show written content. Am I missing something??

This is really helpful for someone who has no clue about mixing and mastering, as i was and this course has open my understanding on this. I recommend :) . Only one question why was the song still was not sounding like the commercial sound quality, saying that I have learnt a lot and it was a big improvement from my initial track. Thumbs up!

This was the thorough "once over" I needed after dabbling with this software for years. It was hard to hear the differences in some audio examples, which could be in part related to not giving enough time for each example to play during discussion. Overall I do feel like it was time well spent.

This was a great course! It taught me step by step how to mix and master a song. What I once thought was hard and daunting, became pretty simple and easy, but you have to take your time to learn and not rush anything! Gary did a great job going into detail and explaining every facet of mixing and mastering in Studio One. Thanks Udemy!

This course was awesome! I've always had recording experience, but would always be to nervous to mix and master my own tracks due to me never having knowledge and experience with them. I now feel a lot more confident with the workflow and will only get better at it from here!
