It seemed to be a great course at first. But it actually was just an introduction class for me. I wanted the instructors to give more detailed and specific explanation about the difference between the reference track and the mix down file. And I felt the teacher is not quite professional about what his doing. He kept saying that he's so happy about his control, but I was not happy at all.

Fantastic course! Demystified a whole load of mastering-related things. Enabled me to quickly achieve a sound which had always eluded me - even after spending just a few minutes playing around with a rough mix. Trying things out as I went through the course I was able to get a sound which was 95% perfect - and that was just through the tiny earphones that came with my iPhone! Once I get hooked up in the studio with proper monitoring and spend some real time working on things I'm confident I'll achieve some great sounding masters. Thanks guys!

Please please PLEASE get those subtitles correct and matching what you're saying. This is very important because the person watching might not understand the words or terminology you're using. There are a lot of mistakes and translations that don't match what is being said during the course.

Yes, as the star rating suggests, I got such a lot from it. I can see there is more to work through. FYI I am actually live mixing and mastering my own tracks using two monitors. It really does work. I'm a bit slow though, being in my seventies. I love the Mac, and I love your expertise. I have left the first course unfinished, as I was hoping to return to a few things later, if not I have it on my iPhone for reference. I like your approach, which is just right for someone like myself, who has many years (Decades) of writing, and attempting to record songs, on real to real two track (Yes two) and four track casette recorders, with very little success. I even tried to use "Click Tracks" for recording midi (Best part of thirty years ago). Honest truth, it was a waste of time as an amateur. Whats happening now is a thundering great revolution, which even I can become involved in. Thank You very much for your professionalism, and diligence in explaining what is still a bit of a dark art. You have given me a touch to light the way. Thank you.

I have some basic knowledge of using EQ, and I always confused a bit, why some engineers tell about using EQ on master. This is the step when you can cut some "bad" low frequencies (for example parts when bass and kick sum in one time) but also you will push down some good bass notes, some good kick drum parts. In my mind It is better using EQ with automation only on some parts of mix. But I am not qualified mastering engineer and I guess I can be non correct in this question. [EDIT] Thanks for the course! Everything is clean and everyone can find here the full explanation of mastering process. Of course you can find more deep lessons about some parts of process out of here, but I found everything I need. My 1st review was wrong, because I wrote it for one lecture only, not for whole course. This is because it is my 1st course on Udemy and 1st experience of using Udemy iOS application. It was about one lecture only, and my question was clearly explained later in lecture about Dynamic EQ. I found TDR Nova free very useful, but also I bought Waves F6 Floating-Band Dynamic EQ and happy with. So, I want to say thanks to Tomas and Christopher. Nice course!

This is a fantastic course that does a great job of explaining, in very clear terms, the many facets of mastering and how to implement them on your own masters. Very highly recommended if you have any gaps in your knowledge and it provides a great foundation of "best practices" to execute in your mastering process. Also, it gave me a broader understanding of some basic processes that I didn't even realize I was lacking. Very informative and immediately helpful.

You all did a great job. Sure appreciated Paul Baily's interview. He has lived the analog to digital switch, and so did I. His experience is a journey of constant change. Guys like him have opened up the road on which we're all riding now, not realizing how lucky we are, and who we owe it to. Thanks. It was really interesting, and, NO, I didn't fall asleep. You could have kept going. Too bad Chris had to ketch the train. Thanks Tomas, Christopher and Paul. Will have questions for you.

I still have a few lessons to watch, but I can say that, although I already knew the majority of the things explained, it really goes in-depth, as well as giving quite a few super useful tricks and tips, which I wasn't aware of, and I thank the guys for that! One downside, however, which I think is the most important thing for the pourpose of this course, is that it DOES NOT takes you through the whole, step-by-step process of mastering a song from the very beginning to its end. It tells you what it is used and how every plugin works (and it does it thoroughly, though), but in every video, it switches from one part of the song to another, without showing a real workflow for the whole process. It wasn't a big deal for me, since I already kind of know something about mastering, but I think that for someone who really needs to start from the very beginning with the art of mastering, this could be frustrating and annoying. However, I'm really enjoying the course and the fact that there are only quite short videos, it makes it more handy. :)

Tomas is explaining the basics...so we get a quick look at the basic tools in pro x. Very immediate and direct delivery of information. I'm not a noob by any stretch of the imagination I know what a compressor is. I was more looking forward to Christophers input. The curve for me was a slow incline which got steeper when Christopher took over. They've definitely given me a great starting point into the world of mastering, I'm really blown away with the two I've done and I know some finer details maybe missing, but I have a great beginners understanding which will help me learn the correct way. I've not spent ages looking at a load of disinformation of the net either. Ironically I'm hearing things in my pre-mixes which could've been better. If I were to make the course better I'd cover some paid options for plugs...are they worth shelling out for...is it a case of more snake oil ? Also some of the finer details...a two bar gap would be dependent on tempo for time (no mention of this). Finally, If your like me and you've got to the next level with your compositions, then you might want to consider getting your fingers dirty, it's less easier than just pressing a button or even paying a third party....far more addictive when you hear the results, and, as I'm happy with the results I've achieved with this course I've no hesitation but to give it 5 stars...I was doubtful mid course , my ears ain't lying, I'm stoked, thanks guys...opened another can of worms...lol.

I have now been given the confidence to move forward and master my own material... most of the theories covered is down to opinion, as i always thought previous, thinking there were an industry standard way to present your work, but after hearing the interview and been given a real insight into sound engineering, we just have to make our sound with the tools we have and produce that addictive sound that everyone is buying. Thanks again tom and chris for the knowledge, also paul for the enlightening stories on music production.
