This is a 48-minute crash course in Logic Pro, free, split into eight short lectures. Tomas George builds a simple track from nothing: drum beats, basslines and chords, the arpeggiator, then a quick tour of the mixer and a first look at Retro Synth. It only works if you have a Mac and Logic Pro installed. The audience is people new to the program, and the course itself tells advanced users to skip it. About 10,800 students have taken it.

Reviewers like how quick and clear it is. One calls it straightforward and easy to follow, another says that after owning the program for a while they now have an idea of what a mixer does, and one reviewer was impressed enough by the teaching to say they would pay for it. A Portuguese-language reviewer says the shortcuts and tips were the most valuable part, and that Tomas makes clear up front that he will not go deep. The complaints come from the last two topics. One complete beginner got lost at the mixer and Retro Synth, while a more experienced user found most sections below their level. I've been playing around with Logic Pro X for a while now, but I know there's so much I could still learn. Most of these sections were a little under my skill level, but I was introduced to some key commands I didn't already know, which was cool. The biggest things for me with this course were the last 2 sections on Mixing and the Retro Synth. I've never really tried to mess with the controls within the Inspector page, so learning about the Retro Synth was exciting. Can't wait to learn more and keep developing these skills!

Iʻve had this program for a while and never understood it at all. I now have an idea of what a mixer does and somewhat how to use it. Hopefully as I continue this course it talks deeper into mixing. For that reason I give it 4.5

I started getting really lost from when you started talking about mixer and then retro synth, for a complete beginner I think it was a bit bewildering to go that fast but I get that it's a free beginner workshop. maybe those things DON'T need to be added into beginner workshop?
