For musicians and students taking music classes, this course does not require that you play an instrument. We take away the aspect of an instrument and study the core of music using just notes. No need to be an expert piano player or guitarist, all you'll want to have is a little bit of thinking power and maybe a notepad to take some notes (music notes that is :P). If you are a musician, applying this information to your instrument will drastically improve your knowledge and skill level.
Even if you have no musical experience, this course could be for you. With this series, not only will you dive into the basics of music but you will also learn a lot about acoustics, ear training, pitch and frequency, harmonics and overtones, and more. Even if you are not studying to be a musician, this course has content that will help you understand sound as a whole. This means that if you are a computer technician, an audio producer, a commercial designer, a video producer, a studio designer, or anything else dealing with sound, you could benefit from this course!
The course should not take too long to complete, but it is recommended that you stop after each video to take notes and memorize material. For some topics, you might need to practice or rewatch the video a few times to get everything (there is a lot of content in this course). Try to memorize...Memorizing this content will forever impact your musical knowledge and make you enjoy music that much more!

Hi! I'm Caleb. I have created over 1,500 tutorials on data, software development, cryptocurrency, etc. I believe that the way I teach is what matters. I don’t flash big words without explaining them and I don’t assume knowledge.
I keep it simple
My goal is to simplify complex problems for anyone to understand. I'm not your typical "teachers who can create an entire course without actually explaining anything.
I keep it detailed
I also like to be thorough. If you watch my content and don’t leave with a new understanding, then I am not doing my job.
I keep it fun
My primary goal is not to put you to sleep as I read an encyclopedia from slides (I prefer dictionaries). Actually, I kinda hate Powerpoint. My unique approach has caused my videos to be watched 91 years (that’s 800K hours of watchtime on YouTube alone).
I am now a tech trainer with this resume:
170k+ YouTube subscribers
180k+ Udemy students
Ex-IBMer and Ex-Software Engineer
O’reilly Live trainer and course author
International speaker on data and Software Development
10 years of coding experience
I love teaching, and I’m beyond excited to have you join me in the learning process.

I think it's beginner friendly if you already have some basic understanding of music. He is young but I still enjoyed his sense of humor during the lesson. I actually enjoy seeing younger people doing what inspires them, so I definitely enjoyed the lesson. I think he taught the subject well for someone who is young. He definitely taught me some new things. Keep up the good work!

What an extraordinarily capable and generous person. I went to music school but didn't turn professional; hadn't touched music theory for years. Caleb got me right back up to scratch and beyond. Thank you so much for both great basics and some useful advanced techniques/tips for pushing capability forward.

Yes well, I didn't really notice, Caleb's having so much talent.I've seen Caleb in the principals' office facing the blackboard with chalk in his hand teaching a Captain America action figure toy standing on top of the orientation desk listening to him. Curry's lecturing music notes that is so outstanding. I never should have invited him to the back of my school bus and sit with the nurse monitor. This young man is a very smart student instructor and I wish him a lot of luck after he graduates from 8th-grade middle school on to High School quite so much and very very soon. Thank You again Udemy School for letting me in on taking these online video study classes without any other further interruptions.

Caleb is a very fun teacher, this was made when he was quite young so it's filled with a lot of silly jokes and I'd be happy sharing this with my kids. Just the same he teaches all the concepts as clearly and plainly as possible so it's a great way to learn & review music theory fundamentals

Positives: Lecture plan is comprehensive and well structured; The guy seems quite motivated and humane; Visual aids. Negatives: Mistakes; Cringy jokes; Time to time unclear explanations; Basement environment, surrounding stimuli.

This is a very good course, he tends to repeat himself lots though which is why I gave him 4. I guess some people like it but I get material pretty quickly so repetition gets annoying.

A fun and entertaining introduction to music theory for beginners. Overall, the instructor teaches the material well enough and by consequence encourages further exploration of the material. One half star removed because of mistakes that leave me wondering if the mistakes are part of the presentation or a lack of preparation. One half star removed because it's unlikely most audiences will walk away feeling a real sense of confidence in a subject approached so awkwardly. I might be further critical about it if it was a paid course, but since it's free, I only spent time on it, and I don't feel it was time wasted. In the end, it doesn't encourage confidence in the material as taught, so while I might suggest it to beginners, I would encourage more professional and compact sources for any level beyond that.

Honestly, the videos can be better. The camera can sometimes get blurry. However, that alone is not enough to hold this course down. Caleb Curry, in my opinion, has one of the best music theory courses out there. With so many topics covered in this course, it should be taken by every aspiring musician. Keep up the great work Oscar Raven

The teacher is lively and animated and he really knows what he's talking about. This course is thoroughly enjoyable and loaded with useful information. The videos frequently go out of focus, which causes some eye strain.

I found the instructor Caleb very amusing and knowledgeable but some of his instructions were not clear. If I had no level of music theory I think I would find this course too confusing but I have been able to learn some new things and the course covers a great deal and if, not fully understood from Caleb's teaching, leads you to look up more information about the subject he has covered. Really nice guy!
