Music Theory for Songwriters: From Beginner to Producer (Udemy.com)

I came at this course with absolutely no background in music. I can't say that I have all the information, such as chords, or how to pick out chords memorized, but I can at least say that I understand the material now. I had tried a couple of free YouTube videos previously, and came away knowing no more than I did before I started - Mike on the other hand does a great job of making the topic understandable.

Music Theory is a huge subject. This will just get your feet wet, and is definitely more entertaining that reading a text book alone.

Ich empfand die Länge es Kurses gut für einen Einstieg in das Thema. Der Kurs war gut und für mich logisch aufgebaut und ich habe jetzt genug Info zum Weiterlernen und ausprobieren. Die Art und Weise der Moderation durch diesen Kurs hat mir sehr gut gefallen und ich hatte immer das Gefühl, dass der Tutor selbst Spaß daran hatte sein Wissen zu teilen. Es ging ja nicht hier um Klavier zu lernen, sondern um ein bisschen Wissen aufzubauen und eine Art Werkzeug zu bekommen, womit man Songs auch theoretisch und nicht nur mit Gefühl und ausprobieren schreiben kann. Ich kann seine Aussage sehr gut nachvollziehen und glaube gerne, dass mir das in Zukunft helfen wird schneller an mein Ziel zu kommen und nicht die ganze Energie immer wieder unnötig beim Ausprobieren schon zu verbrauchen. Ich fand den Kurs hilfreich und werde mal sehe, wie weit ich damit jetzt kommen werden.

I think this is such a great beginner course to understand basic music theory in a PRACTICAL way for aspiring producers. I knew most of the theory shown but the way Mike breaks it down makes me feel like I finally ACTUALLY understood these concepts and can take action with more confidence. I SEE the theory better if you know what I mean. Overall, I really like Mike's teaching style. Thank you so much !

This course is by far is THE BEST music theory course out there , I have tried to watch and barely finished any other music theory course and tutorial online I end up quitting due to how intense the way the teachers try to explain it, and how overwhelming they make it sound, to anyone out there like me with NO MUSIC THEORY background I HIGHLY RECOMEND this course for you, Mike makes it really easy to learn and understand music theory and exciting enough for you to continue and learn more from the next lessons.

great course finally understand 7th chords

This course is amazing. I've tried to avoid music theory but as I'm producing music in a duo I got to the point where I really needed to do some catching up. Mike is really amazing at explaining everything easily and clearly. I've enjoyed every lesson and learned so, so much. I can highly recommend this class to everyone: no matter if you've never heard anything about music theory or if you need to refresh your memory. Great job, Mike!

I love this course, before taking this course i'm on the level "chord? what is that?" and now... i'm able to make music with my DAW, actually i made a LO-FI like and post it to my IG last night and the response is very good for me, it boost my confident to finish my LO-FI. I absolutely LOVED this class. I’ve been making music for years having learned very basic guitar online and buying a midi keyboard, but so often I’d get frustrated writing songs as I didn’t know what I was doing i.e what notes and chords work together etc. And whenever I tried to learn theory on youtube I ended up more confused than anything. But this class has made it SO clear and easy to understand how so many important things work. I feel like I have music writing superpowers now haha!
