i think it is great explaining the code and how to use it, but i think the course could do better if there was a deep dive into serve vs client components and also CSR vs SSR, because as you know with AI tools that are available right now writing code is not the most difficult task right now, but understanding behind the scenes stuff is what makes you stand out, but at the end end the code explanation is top notch, super easy to understand.

You’re teaching Next.js in a concise 15-hour video, which is really impressive! One of the biggest pain points in Next.js is to understanding when to use server components versus client components—can a server component be used inside a client, or vice versa? You’re doing a great job explaining all of that clearly. I’ve looked at other tutorials as well, but they’re over 40 hours long, which I just can’t tolerate . Do you also have a course on Node.js?

Starting this course has been somewhat frustrating BECAUSE when you create a new NextJS application, create-next-app@latest, it is using a significantly updated version. As a result, tailwindscss is very different and the code that Stephen advises to change, doesn't work. Instead of using @latest, the version should be specific so that the course is easier to follow. My workaround was to delete EVERYTHING, then dump in the sample code, and return npm install.

Steven once again delivers a banger of a course! Hes clear, concise, and never with the fluff to spund smart some other educators do. He just tells u what u need to know about the thing you are learning. He taight me react back in 2016, not nextjs in 2025 and I couldnt be happier that hes still in the game. While I havent taken a bunch of other courses on the site, this mans courses are king, I dont need any others!

I really enjoyed this course! It was beginner-friendly, well-structured, and provided a solid introduction to Server-Side Rendering (SSR) with Next.js. The instructor explained concepts clearly and used practical examples that made it easy to follow along. It’s a great starting point for anyone looking to expand their React skills into full-stack development with Next.js.

This is actually a good course. Though I think it's most ideal learners are those coming in with at least 1 year of React experience. As a newcomer who had previously learn React for only 3 months before jumping right into this course, I find the last app's complexity pretty hard to grasp, in terms of how it comes together and at the same learning new react/nextjs functions. I imagine someone who is quite familiar with react would not have to wrestle with how things come together and would only need to digest the new nextjs stuff. I will have to look over the last app again once more in the future to fully 'get it.' But otherwise was great learning experience. Thank you, Stephen, for sharing your knowledge.

Thank you, Stephen Grider! I'm truly grateful to have you as my NextJS teacher. You have a remarkable ability to distill the essence of a topic into easy-to-understand, concise lessons. Your diagrams and thought processes are always crystal clear, making the learning experience smooth and effective. I also appreciate the thoughtful separation of React and TypeScript sections—it adds great value to the course. Wishing you the best continued success in the future!

The 1st 2 projects were easy to understand as Stephen did a great job of applying good teaching methods. Detailed explanation of the concepts. However for the last project, this changed and it was hard to follow. However, I did the course twice and the 2nd time it was much clearer. Why not 5 stars? Because questions are not answered anymore. This is really sad and frustrating.

I've just finished the entire course and I'm pretty satisfied with this. I would definitely recommend this course to everyone because: 1) The instructor is trying to explain the concepts based on the diagram which is super helpful for me. 2) His voice is very calm so that I was able to keep watching all the way to the end of this course which is unprecedented thing compared to the other instructors.

Stephen in awesome in all directions. Superb explanations everywhere. Took many courses related to Next.Js can say this tops out in terms of new server actions and caching techniques. I have built and deployed with inspiration from this course. PRs are welcome. if anyone wants to add more features to it. like Edit/Delete comments etc.. https://dub.sh/discuss-reddit
