Course Description

This course will teach you how to write better and re-usable code for your applications.

In this course, we dig deeper into PLC programming techniques and programming patterns for automation.

This course will be held entirely using the CoDeSys development environment and the Structured Text PLC language. So, if you are looking for a course on Ladder Logic, this is NOT the course for you.

To properly understand this course, the students should have basic knowledge about PLC programming and about CoDeSys.
If you do not have this knowledge, please check out my beginner course on Udemy: PLC Programming – Learn the Basics with CoDeSys .

In this course, we will learn different programming patterns for automation, focuses on modularity and code re-usability.

We will develop different tools and templates that can be re-used in many different projects and machines.

We will work on carefully designed simulations, provided by me, that will allow you to program a complete automatic machine, even without having a real PLC.

If you want to work as a PLC software engineer or if you want to make a career in automation, this is the course for you!

At the end of this course you will have learned many techniques that will allow you work better, faster and in a more efficient way.

Great content but as a feedback it would be good to have an introductory overview of what we are going to build and why is important in the beginning of each section (example generic device or signal management), cause at least for me it feels like its a lot of coding and watching the videos without really knowing what is the final purpose of

The Course was very thoroughly presented with practical examples to work on throughout. Marco did a very good job of breaking down the concepts as clearly as possible making the entire content easily digestible. Key highlight of this course: Very good content about modularity of software, Clean Coding practices for Software development in Automation.

Some decent information but extremely difficult to follow. It would help tremendously if Marco DID NOT jump all over the place while writing code. While trying to follow along it can cause syntax issues. He wastes a lot of time writing code and then deleting it. These instructional videos are of youtube quality except they aren't free.

This is an excellent course to learn how to build the codes for generic devices, signal managements and fault detection. I really like the teacher shows us the coding process without editing out the mistakes made during the video recording. The teacher is excellent in breaking down the complex systems into manageable codes. The exercises also show how to apply the codes into two different projects, which are often seen in industrial automation. I think that this course is best for people with / without PLC knowledge, but who love to learn structured text and visualisations using CoDeSys. Thank you.

This course really taught me new useful techniques to code with codesys. I'm glad you also have a course on how to create your own simulations to test your projects before implementing them on a real machine, which in many cases is not built yet. I'm satisfied overall.

Great course: Right pedagogic approach, top quality contents. Covering advanced topics on project structuring, focused on modularity. Even if I am not active these days as PLC Programmer, I am involved in engineering modularity management. If you want to learn to organize functionally or process-oriented your code in Codesys this course is a great starting point.

By Mark Driediger on 1/10/2021

The course exceeded my expectations. The Lecturer was thorough and taught material that was well organized. Tools and concepts that were difficult before began to make sense. I very much would like to take another course in Codesys from Marco. I will be now taking the prerequisite course as this I am sure will help clarify concepts I still don't quite grasp.

Its a good course with clear instructions. I gave 4.5 rating due to some poor video quality. There is no HD and the screen is little blurry. With a super sharp monitor I am struggling to see the contents when the Instructor is writing stuff, I wonder what would be the case when I watch the content from Laptop monitor. I would suggest Instructor to use Zoom-In sometimes when he is writing code, whole Codesys window is too big and the codes appears in a small part of this window. Please make your videos HD.

Thank you Marco for your great Efforts. Really appreciate it. I learned ST - Codesys by myself in basic level. With this Part of course I have got a manner of handling in PLC programming. Naturally for a problem there are many solutions in Coding, but Marco's way , I found easy to applicable and gives great control mechanism over whole Code. I hope you will add some more Examples and nice things in this way. After buying this course I realized it quick how it could be valuable and sended as gift a friend too.

By Timo Trogen on 11/12/2020

My expectations were to learn more routine in writing ST with CoDeSys and also to learn more about programming and how to structure the program code. This course has a lot of content and I can say I learned a lot. Pace is fast at some points, but it is ok when you can pause or go back any time. The simulations of the machines are really good and support learning. I’m really pleased with the course.
