Postman - Learn API Testing from Scratch with Live Projects (Udemy.com)

Basics to Advanced Postman Automation tutorial from scratch to learn API /Web Services testing with CI/CD Integration

Created by: Rahul Shetty Academy

Last updated April 2026

Our take

Based on the ratings of 11,598 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in April 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.

This is a Postman course aimed at QA people who want to automate API checks without writing much code. It starts with collections, variables and environments, then moves through assertions, data driven runs, OAuth 2.0, mock servers, schema validation and SOAP. The back half covers Newman on the command line, Jenkins with HTML reports, team features and a GraphQL section. Nothing is required up front, and the syllabus adds optional sections on JavaScript basics and API testing basics, so a true beginner can start here.

Reviewers like Rahul Shetty's teaching. The words that come up are simple, clear and easy to follow, and one student liked that he fixes his mistakes live instead of editing them out. About nine in ten of the 11,598 ratings are four or five stars. The complaints are consistent too. Postman's interface has changed, so the screens in the videos don't always match what newcomers see. A couple of experienced programmers found the explanations scattered and the JavaScript messy.

The course was last updated in April 2026, but reviewers say the footage still shows the older layout, so expect some hunting for menus. At about 13.5 hours across 84 lectures, the length is manageable, and over three of those hours are optional background. Testers who want the whole path from a first request to a Jenkins job will get a lot from it. Developers who already know JavaScript and Postman basics may find it scattered and loose.

Best forQA beginners moving into API automation who want Postman, Newman and Jenkins in one place, with no prerequisites.
Skip it ifYou already write JavaScript well, or you need steps that match the newest Postman interface.

Pros

  • Goes past the app into Newman on the command line and Jenkins with HTML reports
  • Instructor keeps explanations simple and fixes his errors live on screen
  • Adds SOAP, OAuth 2.0, mock servers, schema checks and a GraphQL section
  • Optional JavaScript and API basics sections help true beginners get started

Cons

  • Videos use an older Postman layout, so menus can be hard to find
  • Some experienced coders found the explanations scattered and the JavaScript messy
  • No coding exercises and only three quizzes, so practice is mostly self-directed
I really like the examples and the way the instructor didn't edit his mistakes just to make the video perfect, instead he fixed the issues live.
Saqib Salah ud din, a student

Fits QA beginners with no prerequisites; developers with solid JavaScript may find it scattered.

Corso chiaro e ben strutturato, utile per chi vuole iniziare con Postman, SOAP e Newman. Gli argomenti sono spiegati in modo semplice e comprensibile. Buona base introduttiva.

By Anusuya on 3/18/2026

complex concepts are explained easily and gaining more knowledge and confidence for the user who learns.

By Arvind Jadhav on 1/28/2026

Sir, the course content is good and very informative. However, beginners or learners without JavaScript knowledge may struggle to understand the concepts in the initial stage. If basic JavaScript topics like arrow functions and arrays are moved to the beginning of the course, it would be much easier for freshers to understand.

Hello Rahul, It will be nice to have in case environmental variable are also available along with source code, sometime by mistake some variable parameters are missed while practice.
