Hello! My name's Adrian and I'm a professional Java Developer. You've just found the highest rated course about JUnit on Udemy! Here are some examples chosen from the hundreds of reviews :

• "superb and very compact, the course got me started in just two hours"
• "excellent, well-explained, with real-word examples"
• "perfect for beginners! I feel like: oh, it's so easy!"

According to statistics, nearly 80% of all Java developers write unit tests with JUnit, and my developing practice proves it. Unit testing is so important because it increases the quality of your code. It is a basic skill required by most employees, so for any Java Developer professional career, you have to master JUnit. You'll only learn the practical aspects of unit testing with JUnit 5 – the latest version of the most popular Java unit testing framework.

I’ll introduce only the essential theory behind unit testing, and then dive straight into the code to get you started as quickly as possible. I’ll use an example of a simple, yet practical Java project to show you a variety of unit test types. You'll also learn the best practices and coding standards for unit tests based on my developing experience. You can get started in just a few hours. This course also comes with additional exercises and a one-page cheat sheet for a quick JUnit 5/6 reference.

COURSE ADVANTAGES

concise – my short video lectures focused on the most important info help you save time and learn maximally effectively

based on practice – instead of useless academic theory, you learn the best developing practices drawn from my work experience

reasonably priced – compared to stationary developer bootcamps, the course is much cheaper, so you save not only time but also money

available anywhere, anytime – the online form lets you run the course in the most convenient place (at home, work or in a café) and time (while commuting by metro or relaxing at home after work), so you can adjust it to your agenda

accessible on desktop, mobile and TV – you can display my lectures on the device of your choice, so you don’t have to stick to your PC

certificate of completion – after completing the course, you will receive a printable certificate that will make your resume more attractive

Instructor Details

Adrian Wiech

Hi!

My name’s Adrian and I’m an engineering manager and a former senior software developer. I specialise in back-end languages such as Java and Python. My programmer portfolio also includes lots of database technologies: both SQL and NoSQL databases. I hold a Master’s Degree in Computer Science.

I have over 10 years of experience teaching people IT online. What makes my courses special is their practical background – I’m an active developer, not an IT theorist, so I know the best practices. I also know what programming skills are in demand.

My courses are:

- based on practice so that you don’t learn useless theory,

- straight to the point to save your time,

- easily digestible because I want you to understand it all without problems.

A well-structured course that explains Java unit testing concepts in a simple and practical way. It covers JUnit 5 fundamentals, assertions, test lifecycle, parameterized tests, exception handling, and best practices with hands-on examples. I would recommend it to anyone looking to strengthen their Java testing skills.

By Ridwan Kawsar on 9/7/2025

I think there should have been explanations, as a beginner, I was looking forward to learning Unit testing. I think it would've also been nice to include practice questions for ourselves to practice then you could've ran through the solution at the end?

By Carlos Eduardo da Silva Thompson on 8/19/2025

A straightforward and focused course that introduces software testing through a real case study scenario. It follows established testing patterns, provides practical examples with annotations, and covers key concepts of Test-Driven Development (TDD). The course also includes hands-on exercises to reinforce learning and allow participants to practise further.

i use intellij/maven to manage a project the pom.xml requires a decent amount of configuration to get extensions to work - eg DisplayName setup is not obvious i think this would be a good addition to this course - integrate maven extensions into the discussion of the annotations

By Ranjan Lahiri on 4/18/2024

Explains the basics of Junit 5 nicely with all the required annotations and makes the course interesting. Additionally, the lecture on best practices and TDD is a bonus to teach the real life approach. Enjoyed the course and its very helpful for beginners.

By Gaius Fonseca on 10/4/2022

The best part about this course is that it is concise, to-the-point and more than enough for a Java Developer to introduce JUnit as part of his/her development suite. Courses that teach about following best software development practices such as agile, are very hard to find these days. This course definitely excels in providing subtle albeit practical methods for slowly making JUnit as part of your development. I was able to complete it in 3 hours!

By MD SHAH FAISHAL KHAN on 3/7/2022

Good start! But you didn't explain to us why we need to make a test to PASS or FAIL at ur desire? I mean there should be some retrospective kind of explanation as to why we want to write the certain thing in THEN part of jUnit. Overall, the course is awesome and I'm planning to take more courses from this channel regarding jUnit. Please answer to our questions not in programmatical way but in a way that we can understand and make a child understand the same (that level of decency we need).

By Jaikrit Bhattacharya on 8/23/2021

The course is good. But too short for a beginner like me. This is a skill up for a person already familiar with JUnit. Would be helpful with some theory and some insight to decide which tool/keyword to user along with list of possible options.

By Xiao Xue on 2/13/2019

I think it is definitely useful for people to enhance their skills before their first software engineer job. This course has practical content, I personally get more familiar with Eclipse and learnt intro of Junit 5. Instructor put a lot of info in this course. Recommend this course.
