Was annoying trying to set up javafx because the instructions are out of date. I don't see why better instructions can't be provided up front. Anyway, I managed to get it working without help from the course developer and support, but it is really bad to start with a problem before you're even out of the gate. So far the MediaPlayer exposition is very useful, so that is why the rating is as high as 4 stars.

The courses idea is very special, the fact that it would show how to make interesting project like making a video Player, using GUI, and manipulating some real situation issues. However, that is far away from the real content, at least this was my experience. 1 - The video presentation talks about making 11 projects, including a Text-editor project, a Camera/Facial recognition project, .. none of it exit, the actual project are 6, and are more of a demo that would be found in the official documentation. 2 - There is no outline or preparation from the author. During the video recording, it's clear that there was no clear "destination". 3 - The remaining content (Half what I paid for), is really awful. For the Media Player (first project) i.e, the code is a pure spaghetti and amateur, NO ONE should write code this way, there is no separation between layers or even any best practice respected (should have been at least MVC ...), No Java Doc, No commentary, No test, just a bunch of lines and variable and "let's try... oh...mmm ok, let's move it up here and change it to....", also, most of the code is procedural. 4 - When using GUI, at least try to make look "as usual"... The GUI for the project with database and JTable i. e. is really irritating... with literally no explanation or any thinking beyond the fact that the program connect between the database and a "way to show the data". As a summery, I really regret to spend my money on this course, and the time I spent expecting that I would learn something useful ( a whole afternoon). I would not recommend any one to buy it.

The Projects are really good. I think more frameworks could be used instead of Swing, which is a little bit old school. I didn't like the coding style of the Instructor and I don't think it's suitable for student who just started to code in Java and are not confident enough syntactically. Not using private modifier before fields, accessing fields directly instead of getters, sometimes using public modifier before constructors and the other times not, not always using CamelCase in method names the right way (and using snake_case one time), trying to compare Strings with == instead of .equals (it was later corrected), just to name a few. I've been coding Java for some years, and would be really smashed at a CodeReview for doing these.

The instructor's voice isn't clear enough for me. I need to turn up the voice every time. But I learn a lot from those projects. The projects are just some entry level application. From those small projects I can learn a lot behind them. There are some contents that are useful. At the point I think Servlet is basically not that useful for there are many new tools or frameworks so I suggest skip Servlet courses.

I'm not sure how to learn anything from this course. The instructor spends a great deal of each video mumbling commands as he types them, and rarely explaining his logic or methodology. I already know Java, to the extent that I've created a couple of fairly involved applications in use by a few dozen users. Even knowing the language, I found it hard to follow the videos. If you just need to see someone typing and want some ideas of practice projects you can do (with source code to examine) the course is fine. If you don't know Java well, this course is not going to help because there is no explanation of WHY things are being done.

This may be the worst course i have ever attend. He is just coding, no explanation, no acknowledgement nothing. Just coding. I didnt pay to watch him coding. I paid cause I want to learn why he coded like that. Why he prefered this and not that for this particular project. Why we create this function in here. Com'n this is not teaching...

I believe this course is suitable for anyone who are interested in programming, regardless of whether you have previous programming experience at all. This course is friendly for both beginners / experienced programmers. All the videos can be downloaded deep but not overly difficult to follow I learned some new stuff I didn't knew before. This course covers all the essential java concepts. I found this course to be really helpful where it matters. The phases and explanation/script inside the videos are perfect, it quite straight forward to understand. The practice and sample is really helpful. The content is presented in a straightforward manner and easily digestible.

I took John Purcell's "Java Tutorial for Complete Beginners" a few months ago. It was a great course that I highly recommend to anyone who wants to gain first-timer exposure to Java. After you take John Purcell's "Java Tutorial for Complete Beginners" course, I highly recommend that you take "Projects in Java" (or go straight to "Projects in Java" if you already have some Java exposure). "Projects in Java" offers outstanding examples of real world Java applications. I can't get enough of this course! I wanted to increase my experience with Java so that I can apply it to my database knowledge. This course is definitely helping me do that. I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to get a good feel for Java programming and its many, real-world uses.

I already know the java basics from university and private studying. I took the course and can say that the instrcuctor is great in teaching and also delivers the content very good and not boring. Thank you for these amazing tutorials!
