Course Description

Want to become a true expert in web automation and testing? Discover the full potential of Puppeteer—Google’s powerful non-Selenium browser automation framework—in this hands-on, project-based course designed to take you from beginner to advanced automation engineer.

This comprehensive and practical course is perfect for anyone looking to gain real-world experience in web automation using modern tools. From the very start, you'll jump straight into coding exercises that guide you through building and testing web applications using Puppeteer's intuitive and robust API.

You’ll start by learning installation, setup, and configuration of Puppeteer, then dive deep into advanced topics like element interaction, automation flows, and working with asynchronous browser behavior. You'll practice through real-world end-to-end testing examples, gaining experience you can immediately apply in professional projects.

A standout feature of this course is the implementation of the Builder Pattern framework, a professional and elegant approach to automation that allows you to build your own robust test framework using Puppeteer with Jest. This structured method will boost your confidence in creating scalable, readable, and maintainable test suites.

But we don’t stop there. You’ll also learn how to apply the widely-used Page Object Design Pattern—an essential for clean automation architecture. Explore Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) by integrating Puppeteer with Cucumber or CodeceptJS, and bring a visual edge to your testing with visual regression testing using either Percy or jest-image-snapshot.

To reinforce your learning and simulate real-world environments, this course includes two live projects where you’ll put your skills to the test. You’ll also receive interview preparation tips to help you confidently step into automation roles and showcase your new abilities to potential employers.

Worried about getting stuck? Don’t be. Our vibrant Q&A section is always active, filled with support from the instructor and fellow students. You’ll find expert advice, troubleshooting help, and bonus insights that keep you moving forward.

Whether you’re a QA professional, a developer expanding your toolset, or a beginner looking to enter the world of test automation, this course gives you everything you need to master Puppeteer and stand out in the industry.

Don’t wait—enroll today and start your journey to automation success with Puppeteer!

My rating is between a 4 and 5. Despite what you read in the reviews about the course having outdated material and I agree with a couple that the audio is a tad low, this course is doable. I didn't see very many options out there on Udemy for Puppeteer so I gave Kaniel San's (Karate Kid reference) course a try. There's a lot of good stuff here like getting into the habit of creating the project from scratch with npm init, .prettierrc, etc as well as having a few test runners to implement like Mocha and Jest. To be successful, use the versions of software packages he uses. For example use the version of Node he uses, I suggest to try to install NVM so that you can use many different versions of Node (you would be on your own to do this and understand the basic commands like nvm ls). If he uses Puppeteer version 2.0.0 (wait to see his package.json), you should too. There was one time where after using his versions of npm packages didn't work out for me, so I had to go to the end of a section to see what he ultimately used for the Source code. Last, if something just doesn't work out, see the Q&A for the particular lesson to see if someone ran into that issue. Other than that, it's mostly you made a typo in the code or in the command line. I left about 5 or 6 Q&A notes with workarounds that I had to do to get by.

The excellent course in terms of contents and code samples. It took a few days of following the course to be able to write e2e tests for my own project. The code along videos and code examples are therefore perfect for someone who wants to quickly get going with testing. As a suggestion for future upgradation of the course, the documentation of Puppeteer is quite poor, and therefore if the instructor can spend some time adding theory to expand on the Puppeteer documentation, it would greatly increase the value to students. However, as it is, this course is absolutely fantastic. Would highly recommend it to all my colleagues.

I am from Brazil and needed to execute a process that did not have a function in the webservice and therefore would have to be automated by the browser. With the knowledge of this course I will be able to deploy this automation on the server using ExpressJS and as Kaniel says "We're good to go!" lol Thank you very much for this course. You are the best!!

Great course! Very useful. I would like to suggest several things: - To update parts, where the old versions of the environment used. - Page object with cucumber But the course is great! With a wonderful teacher!

Absolutely perfect course!! A lot of advanced concepts and framework design lectures which you can't get anywhere else on the internet. I would like to see more lectures on visual regression testing, but the rest is perfect, thanks for sharing this with us.

The course is good -- it does provide you with a general introduction to the automation concepts for testing purposes in JavaScript. That said, one disadvantage I could not pass by was a complete lack of parametrization -- the one and only thing that really makes automation such a useful technology. Personally, while taking the course I had to do a lot of research on my own and was surprised how poorely the concept was implmented comparing to similar frameworks you can use with Java. Anyhow, great content after all -- for complete beginers though.

By Amithap Sampath on 1/10/2020

Not detailed and no diligence or effort put on articles. For example source code for all files are not provided and don't cover for all resulting in failed test execution. Example source code for../page-objects/ is not present as part of "Step 29. All tests source code" and no mention about it. Tools like this cover an array of skills like JS, CSS, HTML, Node.js etc. and where puppeteer code is put to use that addresses external areas I would have provided a brief explanation (not a separate lesson). That's a huge let down

Enjoyed the course, covers a lot of interesting testing concepts, which i didn´t find in official documentation such as Builder Pattern framework. I´m looking to implement this in my own projects, so again thanks for this. Edit: came after a while to see new content and also to ask few questions and Kaniel helped me.
