Not only do you already need to know C++ to do even the first programming assignment, By the time you get to the first programming assignment, Udemy says you've done too much of the course to get that much-touted 30 day refund (even if it's only been a few days). Pick something more comprehensive, even if, like me, you've been developing software for over 20 years in other languages. Avoid this course

This is my 3rd time watching the course content and I like it, it's very short and to the point course. Teaching examples can be improved and it would be much better to avoid adding multiple functions or code samples at the same time in the VS code file. Just add code which is relevant to the current discussion that way its easy to focus on that concept. I am looking forward for C++ 23.

The course provided a concise yet comprehensive summary of modern C++ features, making it easy to understand. After not writing C++ for about ten years, this course was really helpful in helping me get back up to speed with the latest features. I do wish that all sections included exercises though, as they are really helpful for better understanding each topic. Also, although the lecturer mentions that some important features are missing from the course due to limited compiler support (which is a valid reason imo), it would still be beneficial to have these features at least briefly explained.

I am a long-term Java programmer who hasn't done much C++ for a while. This course was perfect for me. The content is high density enough that I would sometimes have to go back and rewatch a lecture to make sure I got it, but IMHO that is exactly what you want in that it allows you to take up the information as fast as you personally are able to follow it. Great job by a really skilled and knowledgeable instructor.

This C++ training was average/ok. The content covered was generally acceptable, addressing modern C++ features. However, the overall delivery of the training was hindered by the trainer’s apparent lack of preparation and organization. There were typos in the code, and some example snippets didn’t compile, which disrupted the learning process. A more structured approach and better preparation from the trainer would have made the experience much better.

Excellent course for people who already have experience in programming. Personally I have many years of experience with some programming languages (especially old C++) and I wanted to update my knowledges to Modern C++. I've just completed this course and I can really say that I've learnt much more than expected from it, so I really enjoyed it a lot.

Fit well to my needs as an experienced C programmer, also with extensive Python experience, some old outdated C++ experience and some other languages as well. The pace was fast enough not to make me bored. I recommend the course to people with similar experience. You should already know both functional and OO programming concepts in order to be able to follow.
By Kal ⠀ on 9/14/2024
Covered a good part of the syntax/language with some solid explanations of underlying low-level concepts, but I wish there was more practical things included as well (e.g. setting up a project, cmake, clang, working with external libs, etc.). Also, I don't like when code is just presented and explained as opposed to coding live so that I can watch while I code along.

I worked as a C# developer for several years and recently returned to school where I need to develop and extension for a C++ library. I didn't want to waste time on a C++ course that was from the absolute basics. I know what a function and a variable are. I just wanted a course where I could quickly get up to speed on the most important aspects of C++ that I would not be familiar with coming from C#. This course achieved this very well! No time wasted on introductory stuff, got right into the brass tax. Great work with this course!
By Fabio Negreiros Ribeiro on 2/27/2023
This was a great course. I learned C++ in 2003, and have been using it since then. I was updating my knowledge from time to time, but it got to a point that it was not possible anymore to compile or share my code with anyone, it was too old-style, still closer to C than C++ itself. So I took this course, and it was exactly what I needed: a straight to the point description of all the wonderful things that were created in the last decade. Now I see that I was really, really outdated. Even though I was using vectors, queue, deque, strings and many other "new" features, I was not ready for this. "auto", "lambda function", "concepts", etc... just a few of the things I learned and that now I need and want to use daily. I need to practice, a lot. Thank you Jan Schaffranek for the great explanations, for being very focused and not waste any of my time. I learned a lot, even in topics that I already "knew", in principle. We need more courses like this in Udemy, more focused on Intermediate levels, comments that matter, and that do not want to teach "Everything for everyone". Just as a quick note, in one of the quizzes closer to the end of the course there is one question that is in German, it was not translated to English. It is still possible to understand what is the question, so it is not a problem at all.
