Course Description
Hardware and OS compatibility notice (updated August 2026)
This course was last updated in August 2022 for Raspberry Pi OS 11 ("Bullseye") and Python 3.8.13, and it works as recorded on the Raspberry Pi 4, 3, 2, 1, and Zero W.
If you are using a Raspberry Pi 5, or a newer version of Raspberry Pi OS ("Bookworm" or later), parts of this course will not work as shown. The Pi 5 changed how GPIO access works, and newer OS versions changed how Python libraries are installed. These changes break several of the libraries used in the course, including the DHT22 sensor library.
To follow this course today, use a Raspberry Pi 4 or earlier with Raspberry Pi OS 11 ("Bullseye"). Bullseye images are still available from the Raspberry Pi OS legacy downloads page, and the course will work exactly as recorded.
If you have a Raspberry Pi 5, I recommend waiting for the upcoming course update, which will cover the Pi 5 and current Raspberry Pi OS. If you prefer to proceed now, expect to adapt the GPIO and sensor lectures yourself.
What is this course about?
Welcome to Raspberry Pi: Full Stack, a hands-on project designed to teach you how to build an Internet-of-Things application based on the world’s most popular embedded computer.
This is an updated and improved remake of the original Raspberry Pi Full Stack. In this new course, I have updated all of the technologies involved in the current state of the Art, and have also added new content.
This course will expose you to the full process of developing a web application.
You will integrate LEDs, buttons and sensors with Javascript, HTML, web servers, database servers, routers and schedulers.
You will understand why the Raspberry Pi is such a versatile tinkering platform by experiencing first hand how well it combines:
open hardware, that includes wireless and wired networking and the ability to connect sensors and actuators,
the powerful Linux/Debian operating system, which gives you access to high-level programming languages and desktop-level software applications
and, the flexibility of open source development software which, literally, powers the cloud applications that you use every day
As you progress through the sections, you will learn how to complete a single step of the application development process.
You’ll start with the operating system, add Python and play with some common hardware. Then you'll set up the web application stack, and the application itself.
You will learn and add new features and refinements as you move through the lectures.
This course is perfect for people that have at least basic understanding of computers and electronics.
Ideally, you have experience in experimenting with the Arduino and are comfortable with the breadboard and simple components.
This course contains a substantial amount of programming. For this, you will need to be comfortable working with a text editor. Any prior knowledge of Python, Javascript or other high-level programming language will be beneficial, although it is not strictly necessary.
There are no requirements necessary to enrol; I only ask you to be ready to learn and willing to put the required time and effort.
Please don't forget to watch the free lectures in the first section of the course. These lectures will give you detailed information on the course content and the hardware you will need.
Looking forward to learning with you!

I enjoyed the course. It proved to a adventure in learning and patience. It introduced you to the Lenox operating system and software tools that make using ssh interface user friendly. The course was out of date when I purchased it, but I powered thru it being a self learner. I even elected take a course on the Lenox OS using ssh. The RF module nRF24L01 drivers did not work in either the Raspberry Pi Full Stack with its included 2022 update. Purchased Raspberry Pi Full Stack Upgrade Project course and found out that RF module nRF24L01 was useable and was “upgraded” to HS12 radio UART. The HC12 looks like it should work . Note: I am still working thru “ Raspberry Pi Full Stack Upgrade Project course “

Peter is a top-notch teacher. The structure and content are very well thought out. He's an excellent Udemy instructor. I have no complaints about this course; it made my Raspberry Pi project super easy. It's very well-prepared and presented. It covers everything I was looking for to get the basics of a Raspberry Pi application down. The documentation alongside the videos allows for true understanding. I gave it 5 stars halfway through the course. Now that I've finished the entire course, I can confirm that the wealth of knowledge it's provided is worth every penny. Thank you, Peter, I’ve purchased the “Raspberry Pi Full Stack Upgrade Project” course to continue.

Thank you Peter for this course - it was involved and took a lot of time, but with your clear instructions and source code, I was able to complete the temperature and humidity monitoring and feel accomplished for doing so. There are a few areas where there was some confusion (such as having to update the adafruit python libraries in the provided python source code), but every question I had was clearly answered through the course Q&A. Thanks for teaching and I look forward to future learning.

This was way above my expectations. The course is super complete, I came to learn about Raspberry Pi and I stayed for all the Full Stack development I was learning. In the course you can learn about so many different resources and optimal solutions about how to achieve certain tasks. This is really a veyr well done tour around many different and needed technologies. I like how Peter always points you to the official documentation and not some stackoverflow question. I have seen pros work and they always go to the official documenation, that´s how I know Peter is a pro. Super recommended course, I wish I could give it six stars.

A short 10 hours course which covers the entire process right from understanding the basics of a Rasberry Pi, such as controlling a button, switching on a LED to developing an entire website of reading, displaying and charting Temperature and Humidity values from the DHT22/11 sensor. This course points us in the direction of the possibilities that are available on using a Micro-computer and helps us to decide the areas where we would like to strengthen our skills. The resources on Github are excellent, links to learn more about the topics covered are very relevant. Dr. Peter has once again presented a complex topic in a very simple manner.

It is a good course, you build a nice app. It covers a lot of info and I feel it is more of a this is what you can do than an actual training video because of the wide scope of information it covers. But that said I did build the hardware and completed the course and in the end was very impressed that I was able to build and implement the sensor app, but one will need lots and lots more training to do something like this completely by yourself. I had very little experience with python, java-script, HTML and flask etc when I started the course.

My background is in art and design, and I have acquired some coding skills through a number of online courses, and none of which is as cohesive as this one. The fragmented pieces of knowledge I have acquired so far seem to be coming together. However, my concept in system administration is very much built on sand. Lacking the knowledge of how basic networking function, and how disks are partitioned and write-protected, the wpa_supplicant.conf file that came along with my purchase of the Raspbian SD card confuses me. It was meant to make setup easier, just plug and play, but certainly not the best for a headless mode setup. The popup warning messages on Windows scared the hell out of me while I was reading the SD card from my laptop. I wish there were some kind of tutorial which could have helped me get through that stage.

This course is clear, well organized and easy to follow. Perfect for a beginner. Now I have a good idea of how to implement my ideas with my raspberry pi. The only challenge I had in this class was building the web because I didn't have much experience with web development (e.g., js). But the framework was simple, and all the codes are provided and explained, so it was actually not difficult to move on smoothly. In summary, I enjoyed taking this class and I would recommend this class to anyone who has brilliant ideas but not sure how to get started with the pi.

I am amaze by the comprehensiveness of this course. Dr. Peter is very experienced, he even covered some of the other programming code which is very helpful for anyone to learn. I signed up for Raspberry Pi but my takeaway is more than Raspberry Pi knowledge. He go through content that teach us to build the skeleton then step by step to expand the functionality and encourage us to build it ourselves by adding more elements. Thank you so much, definitely worth for what I have paid.

This is another excellent course from Dr Dalmaris who is quickly becoming one of my favourite tutors on Udemy. This course is not for a beginner but demonstrates how simple components such as a button and an led can be controlled using a raspberry pi and its gpio pins with python. It goes on to demonstrate how an application stack can be developed to take readings from a sensor and plot them into a web application. Peter has a calm and clear teaching style that allows you to follow the development of the application. All the code is supplied for each lesson and allows you to build your own version as you follow along. Each lesson comes with a code walkthrough that explains what needs to be installed, added and how it all works. Peter also points out resources for further research where applicable. Great course and really enjoyed this one - would recommend to anyone interested in learning about what you can do with a raspberry pi and a few simple components. Great work Peter please keep them coming.
