React Styled Components Course (V5) (Udemy.com)

The course is good. John (the instructor) explains styled components well and provides good examples. I'm giving it 4 stars because the course is too short. It would be great if you developed the CSS from scratch (excluding some global CSS) for a medium-large scale project using styled components. I think it would help solidify your CSS + Styled Component skills.

Good, fantastic, but please try to speek english little bit slowly and clearly for the not english mother's tongue people like me . Thank you very much for your efforts and examples, it also helps to understand React logics and principles not only the styled component topic that is very great.

A decent intro to styled components, though it often feels as if you don't know what you're building until you're done building it. I would recommend showing a simple diagram at the beginning of each video explaining how components and styles will be organized, structured, and interact with one another. That way, I know exactly what needs to be done and understand why we're building it the way we are *as* it's being built.

I really liked the other courses by this instructor. I felt like this one was not planned out very well. There was too much skipping around between completely unrelated subject matter and inconsistency with how to do things with styled-components. Overall this instructor has very good course content, but this course was a let down, I would have been less confused if I had just read the documentation on the styled-components website.

This course is a little outdated but still useful for anyone learning styled-components. It focuses on how styled-components can improve re-usability across components / projects and provides (mostly) realistic examples of how you might use the library in the real world. Before this course, I wasn't 100% convinced about using styled-components vs. Sass, but I now have a much better understanding of why the library is so widely used (and how to use it myself, of course). I'd love to see updates to the course or new content, but in its current state it's well worth the time and money.

The material of the course was very useful and informative, but I felt at times that the instructor pauses and lingers on obvious and mostly irrelevant point a bit too often (e.g. explaining about why the typo he made is going to break the app). Understandably, whether the piece of information is obvious or irrelevant is a very subjective matter, but I felt that for most people taking the course, these will just be little distractions along the way that breaks the engagement every now and then. Other than that, it's a great course.

The teacher is very friendly. Explains well. Is not assuming what we know or don't know. Very easy to follow. I do recommend having some knowledge of React. I had already messed around with Styled Components, and done other youtube tutorials and built a site or two. But after this, I really got some concepts about how to properly pass props and how to extend styled-components. Totally recommend

I liked the course, the incorporation of the docs and the division into the first part with a very simple project as example and then the more elaborate project. The negative comment about the teacher's English ('will gonna') was a bit mean and irrelevant; I suppose John is not a native speaker (neither am I) but it really doesn't affect his teachings. Room for improvement: maybe a few short assignments or a 'now I'll pauze so you can try figuring this out for yourself first', like how Maximilian Schwarzmuller incorporates in his courses.

I had been looking for a longer course on styled for some time and I'm glad that I found this one by John. I noticed that someone in the reviews mentioned something about the instructor 'sounding condescending' which kinda surprised me, since I felt that John really tries his best to clarify everything to his students and never speaks in an arrogant or even slightly superior manner. The part I've enjoyed the most is obviously the project because it's satisfying to be able to achieve some tangible effect with something I've just learned. From now on I'll be making use of styled components in my future projects and I'm pretty sure that it's not the last course that I bought from this instructor. Thanks John for your good work! :D

I love John Smilga's courses! He's a natural teacher. One thing that I really like about his courses is that he has a routine for developing components - it's very organized and helps you really understand what he's doing. Also, he has you complete the same tasks over and over so that you really get the hang of them. He comes up with great projects and at the end of his courses you walk away with lots of knowledge and understanding, and a library of components and examples to tweak for your own projects. He's a natural teacher. Using styled components is slower than using Bootstrap, but it makes components easier to edit later. Loved this course!
