Our take
Based on the ratings of 1,196 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in September 2024. No course pays to be reviewed.
Deepika Khanna's Visualforce course is a 6.8 hour walk through the basics: 62 lectures across nine sections, split between page tags and controllers. The syllabus shows about 96 minutes on tags, roughly 103 minutes on standard and list controllers, an hour on custom controllers and extensions, and a short tail on where Visualforce can be used. It is aimed at admins moving toward development and people with a little Apex. There are no quizzes or coding exercises, so practice is up to the student.
Students like the teaching. Reviewers call the explanations simple and clear, and one says they followed most things in one go. One likes the quick recap at the end of each lecture, while others find it repetitive, especially in the standard controller lessons. Of the 1,196 ratings, 169 are three stars or lower. Those reviewers want a real-world project instead of one isolated example per tag, more depth on controllers, and topics one reviewer says are missing: getters and setters, view state and render attributes. One calls the material old.
The course was last updated in September 2024, so it is now over two years old, and a recent reviewer says it needs refreshing. Treat it as a starting point and check details against current Salesforce docs. At 6.8 hours it is a quick, low-risk way in. It fits admins and true beginners, while experienced developers are better pointed toward documentation or something deeper.
Pros
- Reviewers find Deepika's explanations simple and clear, often understood in one go
- Works through the core tags, then standard, list and custom controllers and extensions
- Short at 6.8 hours, so a beginner can finish it in a few sittings
- A recap at the end of each lecture helps revision, according to one reviewer
Cons
- Repetitive, with recaps and standard controller lessons that some reviewers say drag
- Isolated tag examples and no real-world project to tie the pieces together
- Last updated September 2024, and one reviewer says getters, setters and view state are missing
Deepika's explanation is very simple and clear. Most of the things I was able to understand in one go.
Listed for all levels, but it suits admins and new coders best. Some Apex helps, and experienced developers call it thin.

The instructor is knowledgeable but this is a very basic introduction to Visualforce that suffers from some deficiencies. - Too much repetition. The lessons are self-paced and students can rewind as often as needed to understand a concept. There is no need to repeat concepts at the end of every lesson. Add one summary lesson at the end of each section instead. - Too much typing. Much time is wasted watching the instructor build VF pages and Apex controllers from scratch. Use pre-built templates to save time. - Contrived examples. Instead of using random examples a better approach would have been to use real-world examples. For example, a custom training object related to Contacts contrasting standard and custom forms and lists.

Overall its concept and explanation are good. But need more for the industry needed samples and explain otherwise it good more good .. for looking for experienced people its little not enough. kindly make upcoming courses in more depth to gain the knowledge. need more practical session ,,,

Well explained. I would suggest for beginners who are new to Visualforce and would like to learn. The following important concepts were not explained in the course 1. Getters and setters 2. View State 3. Render attributes

Really good course so far. She has explained all the concepts really well, I think it would be easy for anyone to grasp them. Although I must say that some knowledge of Apex is needed to understand some parts. Overall I think its worth the investment.

Very well described course, perfect for beginners. The examples provided are great in clearing fundamentals. Went from being super confused to being able to write VFPages on my own in 5 hours. The material is slow but explains everything well enough. I found it helpful to play at 1.5x speed.

I liked the explanations and examples. I think that now we have the new developer.salesforce.com help pages which also do a good job in describing the differences because the various controllers. I needed the refresher as it has been a long time since I have done any work on VF pages.

I wish Deepika had walked us through visualforce pages with a real world example. The teaching model was very old school - tackling all theory elements one by one followed by a simple example for that element alone. A project with a real scenario would have helped tie everything together. It will be good for someone with zero coding understanding, but will fall short for experienced developers
By Emmett McLean on 8/5/2020
Yes. It was a good match. Some of the presentation is repetitive. A few of the presentations could be a few minutes shorter. But that's okay. So far the presentation is all read-only. It's good that all the examples are pages having fewer than 30 lines of code. But what's here is good as an introduction. But it doesn't prepare someone for the challenge of maintaining a real application. I plan on taking a few of Deepika's other courses. And I'm glad I discovered this course on Visualforce pages. It was useful.
By Colin Ong-Dean on 7/31/2020
This is a very clear and comprehensive course. I have a much better foundation in Visualforce now. A couple of observations: Sometimes, it's very repetitive. Also, the discussion of custom list controllers introduces some practices that could use a little more explanation.
By Girish Rangaiah on 8/15/2019
Deepika is the best instructor for Salesforce on Udemy. She is really good at explaining things and uses a lot of examples. it's quite easy to understand her. This tutorial was good. it would have been beter if more topic on VF Custom components, Developing Salesforce Apps with Visualforce, etc was covered. Thanks a lot for your hardwork and effort.
