The course takes a manual tester with no coding experience through Selenium WebDriver in Java over 16.6 hours and 139 lectures, and it has been on Udemy since 2018. Dmitry Shyshkin refreshed it in July 2026 with a 99-minute section on AI-assisted testing using Cursor and Chrome DevTools MCP. Around 70,000 students have enrolled, and it holds a 4.6 rating from more than 20,000 reviews, with over 90 percent of those at four or five stars.

Reviewers praise the pacing. Students say he teaches slowly and steadily, explains what to focus on before each lecture, and ties nearly every topic to a code example. The homework tasks come with a follow-up solution lecture. The complaints are consistent too. Section 13, the long Page Object Model build, is called confusing by one reviewer and the most challenging part by another, and a third says some sections feel all over the place. A five-star reviewer warns that with zero Java background the OOP concepts and variable types can be hard to grasp, and the Java primer runs only 90 minutes. I enjoyed the course content because it aligned perfectly with my goal of refreshing my Selenium WebDriver and Java programming skills. If you have zero background in Java, this may not be the ideal starting point — some of the OOP concepts and variable types might feel challenging to grasp. However, the course provides a solid foundation for building a Selenium automation framework from scratch. It covers Page Object Model (POM), framework structure, and test file creation in a clear and practical way. I recommend having basic Java knowledge — especially variable types, methods, and access modifiers — before taking this course to get the most value out of it.

I went through all sections of this course as offered starting in 2026 and completed the course in July 2026. I made updates to code while following along starting about the end of June 2026. The topics of AI and testing automation can get pretty advanced and complex, but the instructor keeps things easy to understand by giving short inputs before every lecture on what to focus on, and tying almost every lecture together with code examples on how to implement. The on-your-own's were not hard for me, and always came with an explanation lecture immediately following to tie up loose ends. I came in with a knowledge of Java going back to my secondary schooling in 2009. My repo has 120 commits as of today, and it is almost in parity with the code presented in the provided GitHub repo, as I've gone beyond to extend it. I benefitted greatly from this course, and hope to connect what I learn to my role soon and connect with others in the community.

A huge thank you to Dmytro Shyshkin for creating such an incredibly structured, highly practical, and valuable course. The real-world examples and deep dives into integrating AI capabilities with core automation frameworks made a massive difference in understanding modern engineering layers. While the entire curriculum was excellent, Section 13 was definitely the most challenging part of the journey for me. It required extra analytical focus and deep troubleshooting to fully master, but breaking through that technical complexity was the most rewarding part of the process.
