I have 20 years experience working and studying in the architectural field, I have designed dog houses to multi-million dollar homes and commercial buildings.  The last 5 years I have focused primarily on 3D modeling.  My 3D models are used for design development, marketing, Investor presentations and submittals for plan approval.  I have built over 1,000 3D models and I have found SketchUp to be the best tool for the job.  I decided to create this course to share some of the methods that I have used and continue to use to quickly model my projects.  I look forward to working and hearing back from students who take this course.

Going too fast without explaining. Between different parts of the course, there have been added elements and materials without showing.

This course is really amazing . I would like the creator to add the part regarding how to create staircases. Rest all the topics have been covered really well.

By Mugdha Joglekar on 5/7/2021

I took this course mainly to brush up my SketchUp skills. I didnt know how to render, what plugin to use, but after taking this course I am much more confident. I have definitely learnt a lot of new commands and this is going to benefit me while I take up new projects. Thank you so much sharing your valuable knowledge.

I am a new owner builder that has had plans prepared by an architect I needed to be able to turn the plans into construction plans and be able to show various trades what is required as well as be able to describe various issues with manufactures. for example roof trusses where we have a combination of decorative and standard roof trusses, so needed to be able to show suppliers what they needed to be able to do. This helped me to build a 3D model and highlight various issues that need to be overcome. Very happy with the content, pace and quality.

A fundamental and simple approach to creating and manipulating forms. I think a more exact sizing of forms would be my wish for this tutorial class.

The course it's great, the explanations are clear. The only thing I don't feel comfortable with it's the units, the instructor should use metric or at least make the sketch up files available in meters.

By Edward Sowah on 3/2/2018

I like the rate at which the lecture is going. I only have a problem with the units of the lecture (Imperial) inches and feet. I do (Metric) meters and millimeters but have knowledge of the imperial and that is helping me follow. I would have preferred it in metric.

By Hendrik Alamsjah on 1/9/2018

It is concise and clear for the explanation.. Yet, you will need at least the basic knowledge of sketchup to follow up the instruction

By Christoffer Brudeli on 11/26/2017

(Update) "When I first bought the course, it didn't have anything regarding the rendering part, which was weird because the thumbnail image was a render. Thomas replied to my review and actually added more parts to the course about rendering, which is great! Really good teacher that cares about his content and students. Thanks!" (Old) - Good course for learning the modeling of architecture and landscape. I thought I would get to know more of the rendering but turned out it was only modeling and prepping for rendering.
