Let me tell you about myself, and why I became interested in Tableau and Power BI.
I was the office Excel and SharePoint expert, creating macros and writing JavaScript to streamline workflows and create reports. I was a valued contributor to the team, but for a while I didn't seem to be learning new skills. A friend gave me a bit of advice - "don't confuse seven years of experience with one year of experience seven times." Friends were mentioning that there was a lot of buzz around Hadoop and Big Data, so I decided to go back to school.
I earned a Masters in Analytics from NC State in 2013 and now work as a data analyst in the health insurance industry. Using tools such as SAS, Tableau, and Teradata, I conduct analysis to help my company improve healthcare affordability and customer engagement.
I've earned the Tableau Desktop Specialist and Tableau Data Analyst certifications.

Hi there! I just took my Tableau Desktop Specialist exam today - and cleared it in the first attempt! Many many thanks to this course...definitely the most important factor to have made me clear it. Very recommended to all. The three practice tests were awesome. I was very nervous, since even before 3 days I was underprepared. This course covered exact items that was needed - or at least 90% of it. Folks who are reading this - my suggestion - this course covers 90% of the questions asked - please watch it thoroughly; practice tests here are very important - practice till you perfect them. And of course, I took other practice tests as well. This course was the main backbone of my preparation. Cheers all and best of luck.

This course is quite clear and straightforward, and can be a good choice for a beginner who has no prior knowledge about Tableau (e.g. me). I guess for previous exam (I mean before Aug. 2021), those practice exams could be more useful. I took the specialist exam last week, and found questions were much more difficult than what I practiced, though I passed the exam with a low but lucky score lol. I guess the largest reason is that for the specialist exam no more hands-on questions (for me I feel hands-on questions are easier).

Course material is great but this course should not be the only thing you started before taking the specialist exam. I took the exam half an hour ago and passed with a 77% at my first attempt. The Excel sheet IS NOT THE SAME AS IN THE PRACTICE EXAM, which made me a little panic when I see the excel sheets. However, I calmed down and finished 15 minutes early, which gave me 15 minutes to search online for questions that I was not sure. The hand-on questions are sample, no calculated fields question required. However, there were about ten multiple options questions, which I have struggled most. Some of the fields for those multiple opinions are never mentioned in this course. Again, great course for Tableau Beginners, but this course should not be the only material if you want to pass the specialist test.

Every explanations were easy to understand. Teaching based on the syllabus. I highly recommend this course to everyone who are planning to take Tableau Desktop Certified Associate examination. At the end of the course, there are 3 practice model question papers with the same time given similar to the actual exam. Make use of these as well, they will be very helpful. Answers with explanation will be given to you as well once you finish these model question papers. Cheers, Roshan

This is a very good course for whoever intends to write the Desktop Specialist exam. I prepared for the exam with this course and the one provided on the tableau elearning platform. I passed my exam this week. The quizzes and hands-on exercises in this course are comprehensive and prepare you well for the exam, however I do think more hands-on exercises can be added to Section 5 and 6. I recommend this course, but it shouldn't be the only resource to prepare for the exam.

I just passed Tableau Specialist exam with the score, 60/78. This course covers all concepts that are needed to pass the exam but lack some details. And the exam provided by this course seems a little easier than the real exam. I met a lot of multiple choises which contain some knowledge I am not clear. Besides, I also met a problem asked me to use the twbx file to show the dashboard (to be honest, I don't know how to show the dashboard directly with twbx file with no sheet created... I think I should create the sheet at first like usual in xls datasource but in this problem only give me two noun word that I cannot find in data pane...). All in all, this course is worth learning for a beginner. BTW, I also find that some free quizes on http://www.learntableau.technology/ are much harder than practice exams and maybe helpful.

This course helped me in taking and passing the Tableau Desktop Specialist exam. The hands-on approach helped in understanding core concepts as well as implementation of them. The spread of topics is good however, I think it misses in-depth explanation of topics such as sets, Actions, parameters, dashboards and stories etc. Overall, the course is good and recommended in preparation of Tableau Desktop Specialist.

Updated Review: I took this course as my only prep. I repeated the exams about eight times. I passed all three exams after the third try but the repetition was to really understand the concepts along with some Quizlet flashcards. https://quizlet.c,om/subject/tableau-desktop/ Excellent explanation and the quizzes all help. They gave me confidence in the exam. Be warned that the actual exam setup is tedious, with 30mins of checks. In an afternoon i have gone through 60% of the material because of how engaging it is. I planned to take my exam in 3 weeks because i felt that, is what i needed to be prepared, but with this i am confident i can schedule my exam within a week. I highly recommend this course.

this course is excellent, but the only problem I had is the 3 practice exams on the last parts. there's some confusion which I am not sure the answer is 100% correct. I see lots of people wrote a comment on the discussion section regarding the same issue. also, the quality of the lecture video is no high definition, I pick 1080p still looks blurring on my 2018 mac_book pro.

Lukas, thank you for this course, 5 Stars! Completed my desktop Specialist in Nov of 2019 with a 95%. This course is SPOT ON. The lectures and tests are great preparation. The calculations were not as hard on the exam so if you can do these, you’re good. I made a 50 (!) the first time I took one of these. This is also a great deal with the 3 tests. DO NOT BUY the 3 test bundle on the Tableau site, it’s the same tests here for less money. Sorry learned that the hard way and figured I’d share. I also highly recommend John David Ariansen’s class “Tableau Desktop Specialist Certification Guide” on this same subject. Take those two classes, take, re-take, re-take… the practice tests and you’re there.
