Our take
Based on the ratings of 6,815 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in December 2025. No course pays to be reviewed.
Abbass Masri's course runs 65 hours across 784 lectures, and the syllabus reads like two courses stapled together. The first half teaches Java from scratch, then classic Android widgets, adapters, RecyclerView and Fragments. The second half moves into Jetpack: Data Binding, MVVM with Room and Retrofit, Paging, WorkManager, Navigation, and a run of Firebase apps that includes a WhatsApp-style chat clone. A Kotlin track sits at the end. It was last updated in December 2025 and lists no requirements, so it is pitched at complete beginners who want a Java-first route into Android with a lot of small apps along the way.
Reviewers are split in a telling way. The early sections get real praise: the Java basics are easy to follow, the instructor is clear, and students like that the material was refreshed. The complaints cluster in the later, harder sections. Several low-star reviews say he starts reading code off the screen without explaining it, in a flat voice, and that some projects have missing or wrong source code. Others mention noisy audio in places, short two or three word replies in the Q&A, and a lot of repetition. More than one student points out that much of this content is available free, on his YouTube channel or the official Android developer site.
Still, 85 percent of its 6,800 reviews are four or five stars, and 62,000 students have enrolled, so the fundamentals clearly land for most people. Next to the Android 14 and Kotlin Masterclass it is the Java-first, project-heavy option on the same shelf. Take it for the first twenty sections and the Firebase projects. Expect to lean on the official docs once MVVM arrives, and check the source code links before you start a big project.
Pros
- Java basics and OOP taught from zero before any Android code, with 10 coding exercises
- Covers modern Jetpack pieces: Room, Retrofit, Paging, WorkManager, Navigation and MVVM
- Big Firebase projects, including a Journal app and a WhatsApp-style chat clone
- Refreshed December 2025, and reviewers say the early sections are clear and easy to follow
Cons
- Later sections often read code off the screen with little explanation, per many low-star reviews
- Some projects ship with missing or wrong source code, and audio is noisy in places
- Q&A replies are described as two or three words, and much of the content is free on his YouTube
Decent for learning basics and ideas. Seems a bit outdated in a few parts but solid overall.
Marked All Levels, but it is really a beginner course; experienced devs will find the first 20 sections slow and repetitive.

Genuine Feedback After Completing The Course 5 Aug 2025 ✅ Course Quality & Structure A truly outstanding course — complete, practical, and industry-relevant from start to finish. The course is structured in a clear, hands-on, and progressive manner, covering Android development in four major phases: Android with Java Android Jetpack (Java) Android with Kotlin Android Jetpack (Kotlin) Even though some sections were recorded before 2025, the course remains 100% relevant today — and will continue to be in the coming years. In fact, it serves as a must-do foundation before diving into Jetpack Compose or Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP). Every concept is taught through real app development, not just theory — making it ideal for hands-on learners who want to build real-world skills. ✅ Teaching Quality & Delivery Sir's voice is crystal clear, calm, and well-paced — making it easy to stay engaged and absorb the content. The video transcripts match the spoken content exactly, which is extremely helpful for revision or note-making. His teaching style is confident, concept-driven, and highly structured — perfect for both beginners and those looking to reinforce or deepen their knowledge. ✅ Notes & Practice Strategy Initially, I made my own notes until about Section 28–30. From Section 31 onward, I began using GPT to generate structured notes — which saved a lot of time and helped me focus more on understanding and applying complex topics. My Best Learning Approach: Understand each section well Discuss and clarify concepts with GPT Create your own notes (or refine with GPT) Implement the apps yourself ⚠️ If you're short on time, you can also combine concepts from multiple sections into larger, more powerful projects. Just ensure you truly understand how each piece works. GPT really helped me bridge those gaps when needed. ✅ Course Resources The course slide deck (PDF) provided in Section 1 covers roughly 80–85% of the course — incredibly useful for quick revision. Each section includes source code ZIP files, which are helpful, but the real value lies in understanding the logic, structure, and workflow behind the apps. You can follow one of two practice strategies: Build app-by-app along with the course Or Create 5–10 consolidated professional apps using multiple concepts together Both paths are effective as long as you maintain a strong grasp of the fundamentals. ✅ Depth & Curiosity Some topics could be explored more deeply, but that’s understandable given the scope and length of the course. As a curious learner, I often used GPT to dive deeper — whether it was clarifying missed points, exploring better alternatives, or applying concepts to real-world scenarios and edge cases. The course builds a very solid foundation, ideal before advancing to: Jetpack Compose Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) Modern Android Architecture ✅ Final Thoughts This is a complete, professional-grade Android development course, and I would highly recommend it to any serious learner. Android is a vast ecosystem, and no single course can teach everything — but this one offers a powerful starting point and the mindset required to keep learning and growing. The Jetpack Compose (Part 2) course is already available and frequently updated — I’m very excited about it. I also hope to see future course on KMP, KMM, CMP from Sir. ✅ Final Verdict: Highly Recommended! If you are genuinely passionate about becoming a Professional Android Developer, this course is a must-do. It has completely transformed my learning journey, and I’m deeply grateful. Thank you, Sir, for crafting such a powerful and impactful course. ✨

Missing resources from Section 54 and up to Section 93, I don't mind that anyway, but someone might find this a bit of confusing. Overall it's a great course, but some things are a little bit of complex, because they were not discussed in the previous sections, or are shown how to be done in another way, and it was just unclear why are we doing it like this. That's not a problem, I understand that the lecturer is trying to show off different ways to do a particular things, which is also good, this would give the chance for someone to try other/similar way of doing a given thing. The good part is that even if I missed something, or if the lecturer has not explained something in more detail, it's not a big deal, I can just google it and I will learn it one, or another way. Or I will just write it down by hand on a notebook and I will surely remember it. :) This is probably my most honest opinion about this course, I like it pretty much, keep up the good work!

To be fair, I did learn a lot from this course, there is a lot of material I can reuse. However, following the course was very unpleasant and here is why: - The teacher English language skill is average at best. - He makes obvious mistakes in the code that is on display, you wonder if he has really prepared a lesson before recording it. - The quality of his code is at time horrendous. - When students face problem and ask questions in the Q&A section, his answers are useless, lacks any details and barely contain 2 to 3 words, like he doesn't have time or care about answering them. I will never buy any courses for him in the future and would not recommend this course to anybody. Surely there must be a better Android course than this in Udemy.

The course contains a very wide scope of Android subjects and it has excellent examples. The explanations are not very good at the beginning, but you can see that the instructor is getting better, especially in the Kotlin section. What bugged me the most is that the chapters seem to be mixed up, there is a lack of information, but there are other videos added after where it explains things in more depth. It would be more useful if those videos are moved in their place. Overall great course, I would recommend it.

Thanks for such a detailed course on app development with Java and the additional section on Kotlin. You are so thorough with both languages from declaring variables to complex topics of LiveData, MVVM, coroutines, etc. Wow I really am learning a lot!! Thanks for putting so much effort in sharing the wealth of your knowledge. What I would love to see you add in the future is a simple lesson on the steps to building a distributable .apk with keys and all that jazz. Thanks again.

Just finished this course. Learnt a lot more than what I expected. I don't think there's any reason to not buy this course. great instructor, nice topics. however, I would suggest the instructor to focus more on why some things are used rather than how should they be used. The course is perfect regarding how certain topics of android should be used but sometimes the focus is lost from why they are being used. so if I had to give one suggestion, it would be this one. To focus on explaining more on why we are doing what we are doing, this is only for some few topics or few lines of code or concepts. other than that, the course is perfect, that's why I have given it 5 stars. For me, giving anything less than 5 would be injustice to this course and hardwork of the instructor and one more thing, if you ask the instructor a question, he will respond to you within 12 hours, so that's another good point
By Rahul Bhandari on 10/22/2022
the course is good but some of the topic are just taught in hurry which could be explained in details if you could please remake some the lecture then it would be great.can you please explain more about mvvm model project i was not able to understand the view part. It was too fast.else you taught very well.It is a little hard topic. i am not able understand it.everything else is great.sir can you please tell the name of telegram channel??link not working sir please tell channel name??

Mr. Abbas please provide source code for section 12 Data Storage, Section 13 Android Jetpack and Section 14 Firebase and stop telling me to download your app for source code of the course that I have already bought. I downloaded your free app Master Coding and couldn't find the source code there and the is also a premium one of which I do not wish to purchase because I bought the whole course here, are you trying to pull out a scam on me Mr. Abbas? In my view I think I have already supported you for taking this course, and as for the course on its own I am happy with the content I think is TOP Notch but the instructor is the problem here Explanations sometimes are not as clear and this thing of youtube and app store Master Coding download subscription damn is annoying dude very very annoying and discouraging. you are wasting my capped data with unnecessary promotion each time at the beginning, middle and end of the video. This sections that do not have source code are discouraging me to learn from you because you yourself you are saying you don't want to waste time typing the layout your are copying and pasting it and me the buyer I have to pause the video and waste my time typing layouts. and I am getting errors here... stop doing what you are doing my brother. now I have to move around to figure out something but I bought the full course. this is not right
