This class does not focus on the server side programming aspects of Kotlin.  This class does not focus on Android programming.  This class focuses on the Kotlin Programming Language and the advantages of using Kotlin when writing Android applications.  You will learn how to effectively use this language to make programming fun and interesting in Android. I will cover every concept in the Kotlin language and provide exercises to help you learn the language.  This course is a deep dive into the Kotlin language, it does not just cover the basics.  By the end of this course you will fully understand the Kotlin langauge and how to use it to write Android applications.

If you have previously used Kotlin on an Android platform, I'm sure this course will deepen your understanding of it. If you have never used it, no problem, you will see that it can help you become a more efficient Android developer.

I have been teaching students for over 12 years via online classes at over 10 different online Universities. I have created many different class curriculums, ranging from mobile programming to bash scripting to Object-Oriented Design. I have also instructed over 20 different Computer Science related classes. I have been developing software for over 16 years in the real world at various companies, specializing in Object-Oriented Development and Mobile Applications. I have been programming Android Applications since 2010.

I love teaching classes at Udemy and other online universities. In addition to teaching, I also currently have a full-time job as a Software Developer at a fortune 500 company.

When I graduated from high school, I enrolled at SUNY Oswego and received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.  Once I finished, I worked very briefly and then decided to get a M.S. in Computer Science from Binghamton University. I greatly enjoyed my college experience and would like to help others enjoy learning as much as I did. I think learning online is a great medium and really enjoy teaching others.

Thorough! I'm an experienced programmer, so I'm a bit biased currently, because I'm already familiar with a lot of the concepts, which make it easier to move through the material. The instructor makes it very clear up front that he'll be focusing the language features in depth. I also get the impression that examples will not be overly complicated, yet complex enough to demonstrate the use and effectiveness of a language feature. There are places where I would have welcomed a discussion about an actual code examples, rather that hearing about the key features and rules about an area of the language. Because of this, I would welcome more code examples during discussion and more code along exercises spaced throughout the course. For example, there are many subtopics related to object oriented programming and discussed thoroughly, but the experience was not broken up with some coding, so I lost interest at times.

This was and is a good course on Kotlin. The foundation is solid. Being new to Kotlin, I have learned some useful and important concepts. Kotlin is a nice and an alternative language to Java for Android development. A couple of suggestions to make the course more complete: it would be good to expand the course in some fashion to incorporate concepts such as concurrency, multithreading or parallel programming.

too many use of java in the slides. Instead of slides wich sometimes contains error, a lot of concept could be explained directly in the IDE. A bit long to explain, I've watch everything in x1,5 and often on x2 speed

I was expecting that this would be a course to help me build and publish apps for the play store come to find out that you only build one hello world app by the end of the course.

Would welcome more code along sections plus some simpler breakdowns of terms and phrases when they first appear in the course. It's like landing in a strange land not knowing the language when you are a complete beginner. A dictionary of terms would be useful (maybe already exists. if so location please) Learned loads but feel like it is just scratching the surface. It's getting easier. Thanks for the course!
