This is a long, project-driven Kotlin course from Denis Panjuta that assumes no programming background at all. The syllabus shows 519 lectures across 26 sections, about 66 hours in total, and it is really two courses stacked together. The newer Day 1 to Day 18 track teaches Kotlin and Jetpack Compose through a unit converter, a shopping list with maps, a Room database wishlist and a music app. The older track builds a quiz app, a calculator and a drawing app in XML on Android 12. It suits beginners who learn by typing along and want a pile of portfolio apps rather than a tight theory course.

Reviewers like how clear the teaching is, and one says the step-by-step explanations showed him how Android and Kotlin fit together in a real project. The 4.5 rating from about 19,500 reviews backs that up. The complaints are consistent though. Low-star reviews say the instructor types code without explaining why, breezes past null safety and coroutines, and leans on ChatGPT and AI illustrations to explain concepts. Others say Android Studio has moved on since the November 2024 update, so some lessons need a search engine to get working. Firebase with Compose is thin, and the jump between the two tracks feels disorganized.

Pretty good course if you're looking for something to get you started with Android Dev. Half of the content focuses on a pre-Jetpack Compose approach, which is helpful if you're going to be updating legacy code. If not, the other half of the course covers current approaches. One critique I have is that I would prefer a more structured/organized learning plan. The lesson topics do seem to jump around a bit but are still great for introducing you to the various key concepts such as Composables, API calls, State Management, MVVM, etc. I would also like to see more focus put on the Jetpack Compose architecture and the separation of concerns principle.

Oh man Im Arabic but I love deinnes ❤️❤️❤️ becouse he is honest It's true that I struggled because of the language barrier, but I was able to overcome the problem.

I am already +- 10hours in the course but I don't like how it's explained. It's very streched out and it feels like it can be explained in half the time. Also the fictional stories about adventures doesn't really help and explains nothing about what it means. Alse instructor starts to explain something then stops and reaxplain it after 20videos when everyone forgot what the first half of the code was already about. When there is something complicated which needs more explanation, then it's explained only once and very fast and poorly, but when there is basic stuff, then it's being explained over and over by multiple ways, to the way when it starts being boring. Also now I know everything about clicking on buttons by just seeing instructor play with his made app at the end of each video for 2 minutes pressing same button over and over. And now I know everything about teas too

Everything till now is good. Just one thing is when quiz option comes, it cuts in mobile when landscape. I think it is a problem of Udemy.

Right from the start it seems to be a really well put together course. One thing that makes it so good is the instructor provided a download link for the same version of Android Studio that is being used in the tutorial, so that everything looks the same. A different course from a different instructor didn't do that and as soon as I started the versions looked so different that I was lost instantly.
