I am a character design, film director, animator, and illustrator. I have worked in the animation industry for over 15 years, bringing characters to life.

I have worked with clients such as McDonald's and Ericsson to create top-notch 3D animated characters for their commercials.

I´ve had the privilege to direct actors such as Sir Roger Moore and Peter Stormare among all, as voice actors for animated movies. I´ve worked with renowned illustrators and screenwriters such as Iain McCaig, the legendary designer from Star Wars, to breathe life into stories and characters.

The TV-show I´ve recently written and directed, called Space Yoghurt, is having a worldwide success and has been featured twice in the Animation Magazine.

I´ve published several children´s books.

I started my life as an artist at the age of 13 when I attended art school. The first year we had to draw 50 drawings a day, after school. It seemed a lot, but now I know it was what it took to be able to draw well. I know what it takes to become an artist, but also I know the struggle of the process.

Wooow-such an amazing course!!! Loved the teaching style which is to the point, very calming, getting rid of the fears of making mistakes in drawing -it's a journey after all right?!- and the tempo!!! It was easy to follow along and showed everything step by step. Very beginner friendly. The example characters were adorable cute and the structure of the course well composed-so I am really capable of drawing my own cartoonic characters that actually look good after this course!!!

I had a great time following this course. Not using the eraser was indeed a big help for allowing myself to explore until I found the right shape and it helped me gain confidence. The explanations are clear and go straight to the point. I definetely made some progress and decided to follow more lessons from Maria. :)

Overall, I liked the course content and length. As a beginner, this was a great resource for me to take my first step into creating a character. Some videos lacked proper lighting and sometimes it was hard for me to understand what the instructor was saying. On the whole, I would recommend this course to someone just starting out.

Good explanations for a beginner like me. Goes well beyond just copying what's there. Different poses, emotions and turning around a character are explained well. I've tried learning to draw through books but it's difficult to go beyond what's there as you can't see every stroke that is made to get to the final result in a book. And it's not too long a course like many others that I never end up finishing.

I've struggled in the past drawing drawing whole characters I've only every been able to draw the faces this course has helped using circles as the structure for the body. I've enjoyed drawing along creating characters, it has inspired me to do some myself. Would like to see some more methods of drawing catoon characters on computer. This course was a great purchase, thank you for the great tips and tricks. :)

I expected to learn a lot about principles and techniques of drawing cartoony characters. They are not found here.

Maria is excellent - I'm only up to lesson 3 just yet, but her explanation of perspective on a sphere was brilliant, clear and simple - and illustrated in a very practical way. Extremely happy with the course so far, and find Maria very engaging in the videos.
