Course Description
"Since I'm a beginner, never doing any watercolor painting before, your detailed instruction is very helpful." Diane B.
"What a fun class! Alexandra presents information so beautifully, by explaining and demonstrating at a pace that is easy to follow. The entire production (camera work) is excellent. I learned a lot from the class and had fun getting out and looking for leaves (I found over 20 in my own yard! I had not truly noticed that before!) I look forward to watching more classes that she offers and learning more from her wherever I can find her!" G.G.

I left this rating as I like the tutor. She is making the exercises easy to follow and taking it in bite size pieces,so we get an overall understanding of what we are learning. It is interesting and at the right pace for a beginner.

I’m only halfway through the course but am feeling dejected. I am a true beginner with watercolors and struggled through the first project (botanicals) because I wasn’t even sure how much water to add to paints, how to activate them, etc. Alexandra doesn’t show her brush in the paints which beginners like me need to see. I wasn’t even sure how much water to add to my palette. All we see is her in the act of painting, and even that is sped up. Through trial and error, and looking at videos of other people online, I did the botanical exercise twice and figured it out. For the next project, we are to make a repeated pattern. Alexandra repeatedly tells you to look at her social media pages for inspiration, particularly her Pinterest, which I don’t have and have no interest in. I chose a pattern similar to what she showed in the class video then I went to her Instagram for further inspiration…which is where I see she called the pattern that she painted (and I used as a template) as looking “like 4 year old did it.” Cool. Not feeling terribly confident. I will finish the course but I feel like I could have done just as well using free videos on YouTube.

Super happy with this course! I previously tried one on another site that was too advanced and ended up getting very frustrated. This was just what I needed to build my confidence and learn some basics. Alexandra is a great teacher, and makes her lessons fun and informative! Thank you , Alexandra!! :)

Very helpful beginners guide, a good way to gain a lot of tips and knowledge so that you feel ready to actually try something a bit more complex. Even down to things like paper type which I had zero idea about, this course has been really helpful for helping me gather the right tools and provided simple exercises that are not too daunting for a beginner!

Overall a good course. I am a super beginner who was never good at painting and I feel like I learned a lot and came out with some good looking things. There is a bit of a jump between the doughnuts and the final food project. I'm not sure That I'm any good at knowing how to get my colour layers to blend or how close together they are. but I can mix them correctly, make shadows and understand how not to overwhelm my painting

I am a complete beginner, I have done a few paintings before but always felt that something was missing. I knew I needed a course to teach me properly I have just never had the time. I feel I have learned a lot from this course and it has taught me the basic skills I need to complete half decent paintings.

Love this class. The pace is perfect for beginners and every concept is explained quite well: She's covered the types of brushes, to paints and brands. I love the projects so far. I like how she gives references to her page on Pinterest- the pins are very helpful.

Been painting since last late summer, with limited time, I always appreciate different perspectives from different artists. The lecture about different blues or reds is a very good point. I really need to learn more about the properties of the paints, most artists tutorials don't talk much about that, they just recommend certain colors.

Great introductory course for a complete beginner like me. Instructions for exercises and their purposes were adequately detailed. There was also a nice variety of exercises to begin putting paint on paper. A true beginner often has no idea where to start. The only thing I have remaining is to work on the final project. I will then look forward to future progressive courses on layering, shadows, reflections, texture, etc.
